The aim of this chapter is to show how belonging to the Jewish Community as well as to the Italian left contributed to create the identity of certain Italian Jews. Through three life stories an attempt will be made to demonstrate that this link with the left-wing movement, which was very strong in the 1960s and 1970s, started to disappear in the early 1980s. At this time, due to the debate on the Lebanese war, Israel became the main component of their identity. Of course, this process had different characteristics which depended on different experiences. Between the general elections of April 5, 1992 and those of March 27, 1994, which ended early the eleventh legislature, the shortest in the history of the republic, a political crisis took place which to many appeared to be the end of a "first" and beginning of a "second" republic. In this twilight of the republic of parties, the communist Nilde Iotti was called, by virtue of her political authority and ideal continuity, to the presidency of the bicameral commission for the reform of the constitution. While completing her work, Iotti was aware that the last opportunity was being wasted to defend what remained of the republic of parties.

From fringe to fringe: the shift from the clericalist League of Polish Families to the anticlericalist Palikot Movement 2001–2015

The period between 2001 and 2015 brought two events in Poland that deserve to be called phenomena. In 2001 the rightist, clericalist League of Polish Families entered the Sejm. Ten years later, the leftist, anticlericalist Palikot Movement achieved spectacular success in the 2011 elections. These events give a picture of a radical shift in the Polish political scene: a rightist clericalist party disappeared from the right flank of the political scene, while a new, leftist-anticlericalist formation appeared. To be interested in the survival of SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) is to question their ability to create rent and therefore their financial viability. Our panel study on French SMEs, between 2000 and 2018, shows that several factors play a different role in the annuity creation process. If the effectiveness of state governance seems to play a negative role, through the policies put in place, it turns out that debt plays a positive role in the wealth creation process of SME.
