A preliminary study attempting to assess and explain the intestinal absorption of a series of antibacterial 7-piperazinyl-6-fluoroquinolones is presented. The synthesis, n-octanol partition coefficients, intrinsic rat gut in situ absorption rate constants, and in vitro antibacterial activity data found for these homologous compounds are described. A fluorimetric, reverse-phase HPLC method was performed for the quantification of the quinolones in absorption and partition samples. An ab initio approach is advanced for the thermodynamical properties investigations of disordered binary alloys. Configurational and vibrational degrees of freedom are considered on the microscopic level in the grand partition sum calculations. Summing over the vibrational and configurational states of an alloy is performed within the reference system approach and the collective variables method, respectively. Summary: Plasma membranes purified from spinach leaves by aqueous two-phase partitioning were examined by atomic-force microscopy (AFM) in phosphate buffer, and details on their structure were reported at nanometric scale. Examination of the fresh membrane preparation deposited on mica revealed a complex organization of the surface. It appeared composed of a first layer of material, about 8 nm in thickness, that practically covered all the mica surface and on which stand structures highly heterogeneous in shape and size. Abstract (10,10) single-wall carbon nanotube (SWNT) presents consistency between relatively small solubility, and great partition coefficients and kinetic stability. Solubility of SWNTs is investigated in a variety of solvents, finding a class of non-hydrogen-bonding Lewis bases that provides good solubility. Electron affinity of d -glucopyranoses ( d -Glcpn) suggests colloids of negatively charged SWNTs in water.

Abstract The size exclusion chromatographic (SEC) behavior of five solvent/polymer systems in three organic column packings based on polystyrene/divinylbenzene (PS/DVB) copolymer, TSK-Gel H HR , μ-styragel and TSK-Gel H XL , has been compared. One of the most controversial issues in the development of Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) is the allocation procedure, which consists in the partition and distribution of economic flows and environmental burdens among to each of the products of a multi-output system.
