Competent in Work and Love? Emerging Adults’ Trajectories in Dealing With Work–Partnership Conflicts and Links to Health Functioning

2013

In a 3-year longitudinal study on 989 emerging adults, we assessed self-efficacy in dealing with work–family conflicts and different indices of work and relationships characteristics (e.g., satisfaction, commitment, and stress). In addition, we assessed different indices of health functioning (e.g., sick days, body complaints, internalizing and externalizing symptoms, and well-being). Latent class growth analyses revealed three different trajectories of competence with work-to-partnership conflicts over time that were related to work, romantic relationships, and health. Emerging adults in the high stable group (characterized by high levels of self-efficacy in dealing with conflicts in work…

The early childhood education and care partnership for bilingualism in minority language schooling : collaboration between bilingual families and ped…

2016

Educational partnerships occur at the intersection of early childhood education and care (ECEC), families, and the surrounding community, and have been shown to play a significant role in student success rates in education. There is, however, a gap in research on the role and potential of ‘partnership’ in the case of bilingual families with children enrolled in monolingual minority language ECEC. This study aimed to fill this void by examining parental and practitioner discourses on partnership and on obligations, desires, abilities, and competencies involved in acting on a bilingual childhood in the context of monolingual minority ECEC. Parents in nine Finnish–Swedish bilingual families an…

All hands on deck: An innovative approach to sustained and sustainable conservation funding for endangered plants and ecosystems

2022

The Red List Project (TRLP) was founded in 2018 as an NGO [501(c)(3)], dedicated to preventing the extinction of the world's most endangered plant species and to protecting biodiversity hotspots. This approach is highlighted by an ongoing partner ship between TRLP, independent fragrance house Baruti Perfumes and the University of Palermo, to prevent the extinction of the Viola ucriana Erben and Raimondo, critically endangered. This violet is restricted to the slopes of Mt Pizzuta in the Serre della Pizzuta Nature Reserve in Sicily (Italy), between 950 and 1300 m s.l.m., where it grows in xeric prairies and is threatened by factors partly related to human disturbance (e.g., fires, grazing, e…

Compliance with the rules and partnerships engagement as determinants of good governance: an analysis of the experiences of local development in Italy

2012

Content analysis of Spanish judgements addressing the sexual transmission of HIV: 1996-2016.

2018

This study performed a content analysis of the language of the Spanish judgements addressing the sexual transmission of HIV in order to determine its possible interrelationship with HIV-related stigma. All judgements and writs dictated by Spanish penal and civil jurisdictions between 1981 and December 2016 were obtained through a systematic search of the Spanish legal databases. The inclusion criterion was that the possible transmission of HIV was judged as an individual infraction, regardless of whether other infractions were involved. Twenty judgements were selected and analysed through direct content analysis assisted by the software MAXQDA 12. The majority of the cases (85%) were brough…

Testing theories of romantic development from adolescence to young adulthood: Evidence of a developmental sequence

2003

In an 8-year prospective study conducted on 103 subjects, the developmental sequence of and the factors contributing to a bonded romantic outcome in young adulthood were investigated. The subjects’ self-concepts and their relationships with mothers, fathers, and same-sex friends were assessed at the ages of 13, 15, and 17 years. Having a romantic partner and the quality of relationships with romantic partners were assessed at ages 13, 15, 17, and 21 years. Evidence was found for a developmental sequence in romance with respect to differences in the quality and duration of romantic relationships over time. Factor analysis revealed that at age 21, bonded romantic love emerged as a romantic o…
