The effect of a small bowel segment as a extrahepatic bile duct replacement was examined in 12 pigs followed-up for a period of 420 days. No complications, either during the operation or postoperatively, were observed in any of the animals. The laboratory parameters were within normal range over the entire observation period of 420 days. After 2, 6, and 12 months there was no anastomotic stenosis in the PTC. The intrahepatic biliary tract was not dilated. There was obvious peristalsis of the small bowel transplant towards the papilla of Vater. Acute inflammatory cell-capillary endothelial cell interactions, related to injury and repair, were investigated light and electron microscopically in acute human bacterial pyelonephritis. In inflammatory infiltrate-adjacent microvessels, the small capillaries were completely occluded by leukocyte plugs and the large capillaries were densely filled with acute inflammatory cells adhering to the endothelium. Clinical heterogeneity in infantile galactosialidosis

A new case of infantile galactosialidosis is presented. The condition was diagnosed when the patient was 4 months of age and she died at 20 months. She exhibited some of the symptoms of classical infantile galactosialidosis but no corneal clouding, cherry-red macular spot or limitation of joint mobility. Sonographic examination showed large kidneys and thickened cardiac septa, two symptoms as yet undescribed in this disorder. Urinary oligosaccharide analysis gave grossly pathological results and subsequent fibroblast enzyme analysis showed a deficiency of alpha-neuraminidase and beta-galactosidase. RNasin, the placental ribonuclease inhibitor, is known to have antiangiogenic activity through the inhibition of angiogenin and basic fibroblast growth factor. Structural changes that might influence the structural integrity of the vessel in response to intravascular brachytherapy (IVB) and stenting were examined, focus being on the importance of neovascularization in rabbit stented arteries. Here we analyse the prognostic relevance of histopathological grading and the immunohistochemical detection of p53 and p21/WAF1.70 patients were newly diagnosed with G2 pTa TCC of the bladder based on transurethral resection specimens.
