Persistence of low back pain reporting among a cohort of employees in a metal corporation: A study with 5-, 10-, and 28-year follow-ups

Low back pain (LBP) is a common symptom among adults but little is known about its persistence over time in defined populations. The aim of this study was to examine the persistence of LBP among a cohort of industrial employees studied in four successive surveys during a total of 28 years. Cross-tabulations and logistic regression was used to estimate the interdependence of LBP occurrence at the surveys. At baseline, 54% of the subjects reported local LBP and 25% LBP radiating to the lower limb(s). Persistent or recurrent LBP was common. Does uremic enterocolitis exist?

In rats a severe but compensated chronic renal insufficiency was induced by stepwise 9/10 nephrectomy. Despite this severe chronic renal insufficiency we observed no relevant pathological changes in the intestinal mucosa. In particular, we found no evidence of mucosal erosions, ulceration or pseudomembranous colitis, findings which are traditionally thought to be characteristic of the uremic state. This was also true of those animals dying prematurely from uremia. Thus serious doubts arise about the existence of “uremic enterocolitis”, doubts which also proved justified after a critical review of the literature on human pathology.

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine how dental students vary their viewing patterns of panoramic radiographs during different levels of dental education. Methods: Two groups of students (total number = 48, n = 24) in different grades (second and fifth clinical semester) were compared. The second clinical semester participated twice, as during the second clinical semester a specific lecture on dental radiology and diagnosis is held. Vulvar Epidermal Inclusion Cyst as a Long-term Complication of Female Genital Mutilation

We present a case report of a patient with epidermal inclusion cyst as a late complication of female genital mutilation (FGM). We describe the management of the patient, and a review of the literature. We report the clinical and pathological findings in a 37-year-old female patient from Nigeria, with a clitoral mass of 1 year duration. She declared to have an FGM since she was 5 years. The lesion was excised successfully with good cosmetic results. Histological examination revealed epidermal cyst with the presence of granular layer. An epidermal inclusion cyst can develop as a long-term consequence of FGM.

Background The present study attempted to provide information regarding non-muscle myosin II (MII) isoforms immunoreactivity in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and analysis of the patients’ clinical status after 5 years of monitoring.
