Can the International Environmental Cooperation Be Bought?

In this paper a two-stage game of international environmental agreement formation with asymmetric countries is solved. The equilibrium of the game allows to determine the number of countries interested in signing the agreement. Two cases are studied. In the first case, it is assumed that the only difference among countries is given by the abatement costs, and in the second case, by the environmental damages. In both cases, two different institutional settings, one without side payments and another with side payments, are considered. Does it (re)pay to be female? Considering gender in microfinance loan officer-client pairs

This paper examines the effect of the gender combination of client-loan officer pairs on loan repayment in an Ecuadorian microfinance institution. We show that among the four possible client-loan officer gender pairs i.e. female client-female loan officer, female client-male loan officer, male client-male loan officer and male client-female loan officer, the most favourable pairs in terms of repayment are those with female loan officers whereas the least favourable are those with male loan officers. Mobile search prototype demonstrates the possibilities of social network search in N800 mobile devices. Search is initiated from a N800 mobile device to search the contacts in mobile device's addressbook. The contacts can be other N800 mobile devices running mobile Web server or normal Web servers in the Internet with Drupal content management system. This article presents mobile encounter networks (MENs), which emerge when mobile devices come across each other and form a temporary connection between them using a common short-range radio technology. Local information exchanges between mobile devices results in a broadcast diffusion of information to other users of the network with a delay.
