Professional liability in oral surgery : legal and medical study of 63 court sentences
2010
Objectives: Dentistry, like all other health care professions, has in recent years been subjected to an increase in legal pressure by patients. Nevertheless, there are areas of activity in dentistry in which, whether because of their frequency or due to the importance of the damage and sequelae claimed, this legal pressure is greater. Amongst these areas of activity is that of oral surgery. Study design: To be meticulously analyzed in this report are 63 sentences issued by courts of second instance or higher levels regarding lawsuits involving oral surgery. The data collection file includes 13 variables. The descriptive and comparative statistical study by cross-referencing certain variable…
IL PAGAMENTO “NECESSARIAMENTE INTERMEDIATO” DELL’OBBLIGAZIONE PECUNIARIA NELLA LEGISLAZIONE DI DERIVAZIONE EUROPEA: VERSO IL SUPERAMENTO DELL’UNICITÀ…
2015
The Use of Mobile Payment Systems in Post-COVID-19 Economic Recovery : Primary Research on an Emerging Market for Experience Goods
2021
This study investigated whether mobile payment services could drive post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery in the ‘experience goods’ sector (e.g., tourism) utilising Bandura’s self-efficacy or social cognitive theory. It explored the factors influencing the intention to continue using mobile payment services and the intention to recommend these to others. An empirical survey was conducted to assess the study variables, and the data obtained therefrom were analysed using the industry-standard Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining method. The study results suggest that personal innovativeness and perceived trust influence consumers’ intention to continue using mobil…
Advances in mobile financial services: a review of the literature and future research directions
2022
PurposeUsing the theory, construct, method, moderator (TCMM) format, this framework-based review critically analyses the mobile financial services (MFSs) field through a detailed synthesis and analysis of a sample of mainstream empirical research published in various scientific journals within the period 2009–2020.Design/methodology/approachThe authors followed a three-step structured approach suggested by Webster and Watson (2002) to search for the literature to synthesise the global perspectives on MFSs and their associated applications and systems. The literature research resulted in the identification of 115 most relevant articles.FindingsThe authors identified three major categories or…
Mobile money and the impact of mobile phone regulatory enforcement among the urban poor in Tanzania
2021
Mobile money provides a tool for survival, particularly in urban conditions shaped by city regulations that make microvending difficult for the poor. An analysis of 165 interviews conducted in two low-income neighborhoods in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania over 8 years demonstrates how interlocked layers of technology and interaction make mobile money services semiformal. I introduce two mobile money-enabled survival strategies: intrahousehold transfers for day-to-day survival (transfers within the same city) and resource safeguarding through kin remittances of start-up capital (home-based subsistence business capital stored for kin access in emergencies). The recent tightening of mobile phone regu…
Gender, Age, and Generational Differences in the Use Intention of Mobile Payments and Its Antecedents
2022
Although mobile payments have gained considerable attention in academic research, there still are major gaps in our more in-depth understanding of the antecedents of their acceptance and use. In this study, we aim to address these gaps by examining the potential gender and age differences in the use intention of mobile payments and its antecedents in terms of the effects of the antecedent factors on use intention as well as the antecedent factors and use intention themselves while also considering the critical prerequisite of measurement invariance. Moreover, through a careful selection of the compared age groups, we extend the examination to cover also the potential generational difference…
Customers' Perceived Risk and Trust in Using Mobile Money Services—an Empirical Study of Ghana
2019
Although mobile money (MM) has been explored in the existing literature, the roles of trust and risk in MM use have received little attention from researchers. Furthermore, many of the existing studies have treated these constructs as unidimensional. The extant literature also shows that perceived risk has received little attention from researchers who have conducted studies on MM. Thus, the objective of this study is to examine the roles of trust and perceived risk in customers' intent to adopt MM services in Ghana. Both trust and perceived risk were broken down into various dimensions. The study involved 671 respondents who were selected via an intercept approach and an online survey. Str…
Regional currencies and regional monetary zones in Latin America : whats prospects ?
2010
International audience; Reducing transaction costs and the need for international reserves is a primary objective to the establishment of regional payment agreements. Another objective, especially in the case of Latin America where the Ecuadorian promoters of the Bank of the South (Banco del Sur) and the New Regional Financial Architecture are planning the implementation of a regional clearing system, is to reduce member countries' dependence on the U.S. dollar as an international standard and reserve currency. To help improve the design of such agreements, this paper refers to the plan Keynes designed for the Bretton Woods conference. First, it observes that cases were made against this pl…
Banche e struttura modulare dei sistemi di pagamento: una prospettiva di analisi economico-aziendale
2019
Technology is changing the fundamental economics of the payment industry, just as it has in many other industries. Technological innovations in payment systems have deep managerial and financial implications at firm, industry, and regulatory levels. This paper adopts a business management perspective of studies to examine the distinctive factors of the adoption and diffusion of technological innovation in the economics of payments systems. The main aim is to identify the relevant drivers which lead to modularity of payments systems in the financial industry. In this paper, I adopt a modular design methodology to identify the factors related to the interoperability of payments systems, to an…
Liquidity Costs and Tiering in Large-Value Payment Systems
2010
This paper develops and simulates a model of the emergence of networks in an interbank, RTGS payment system. A number of banks, faced with random streams of payment orders, choose whether to link directly to the payment system, or to use a correspondent bank. Settling payments directly on the system imposes liquidity costs which depend on the maximum liquidity overdraft incurred during the day. On the other hand, using a correspondent entails paying a flat fee, charged by the correspondent to recoup liquidity costs and to extract a profit. We specify a protocol whereby one bank in each period can revisit its choice whether to link directly to the system, or to become clients of other banks,…
