ANTHROPOCENE: NEW ENCOUNTERS, OLD PATTERNS. A FEW COMMENTS ON PAYMENTS FOR ECOSYSTEM SERVICES
2021
This paper focuses on one of the answers that have been given to the question: what type of change is to be pursued to limit human impact on the Earth while considering the needs of poor and disadvantaged communities? In particular it looks at a proposal that combines sustainable development approaches with market mechanisms and top- down technocratic responses: Payments for Ecosystem Services frameworks. They have been criticized by many points of view and this paper questions, in particular, their very reliance on the market, questioning their appropriateness for the regulation of conser- vation activities and their interaction with local communities.

More hours, more jobs? The employment effects of longer working hours
2014
Increases in standard hours of work have been a contentious policy issue in Germany. Whilst this might directly lead to a substitution of workers by hours, there may also be a positive employment effect due to reduced costs. Moreover, the response of firms may differ between firms that offer overtime and those that do not. For a panel of German plants (2001–2006) drawn from the IAB Establishment Panel, we are the first to analyse the effect of increased standard hours on employment. Using difference-in-difference methods we find that, consistent with theory, overtime plants showed a significant positive employment response, whilst for standard-time plants there is no difference between plan…
Consumer engagement and behavioral intention toward continuous use of innovative mobile banking applications - A case study of Finland
2016
This study tests the effects of users’ self-congruence and personal innovativeness on consumer engagement in the context of mobile banking (m-banking) and mobile payment (m-payment) applications. In addition, it examines the effects of engagement and perceived risk on continuous usage intention. We test our hypotheses with two convenience samples of users of m-banking and m-payment applications (total N=1516) using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results show that a) selfcongruence positively influences all three types of consumer engagement, b) personal innovativeness has a small effect on cognitive processing and affection, c) affection and activation have a positi…
Customers' perceived risk and trust in using mobile money services-an empirical study of Ghana
2019
Copyright © 2019, IGI Global. Although mobile money (MM) has been explored in the existing literature, the roles of trust and risk in MM use have received little attention from researchers. Furthermore, many of the existing studies have treated these constructs as unidimensional. The extant literature also shows that perceived risk has received little attention from researchers who have conducted studies on MM. Thus, the objective of this study is to examine the roles of trust and perceived risk in customers' intent to adopt MM services in Ghana. Both trust and perceived risk were broken down into various dimensions. The study involved 671 respondents who were selected via an intercept appr…
THE EUROPEAN RURAL DEVELOPMENT POLICY DURING 2014 - 2020
2014
The common agricultural policy has generated contradictory discussions between Member States. Several successive reforms, due to the continuous changing of funding instruments within the common agricultural policy have lead to several changes within the policy. Since the 2000s, the reform policy was reorganized into two complementary pillars, funded through entirely different funds. Thus, the rural development policy becomes separate and specific, rather than common. The current reform, in place starting since 2013 is to bring new several new challenges: maintaining competitiveness of European agriculture within global markets and the promotion of organic farming and creating new jobs. The …
Reflexiones sobre la concurrencia de violencia económica en el contexto de familia : impacto y mecanismos para su neutralización
2021
Through this work we carry out a dissertation on the phenomenon of economic violence, as a manifestation of gender violence, in the family context, and, especially, from the perspective of the divorce framework. We will analyze the harmful effects that it produces, the damage that it triggers on the most basic and essential interests of the family, and its use as a control mechanism by the aggressors. In addition to a vision of the different mechanisms that, enshrined in our legal system, serve to distort it.
Parenthood and gender inequality : Population-based evidence on the child penalty in Finland
2019
This study presents evidence on the effect of parenthood on labor market outcomes in Finland. We use population-based data drawn from administrative registers and an event study design centered around the birth of the first child using the specification proposed in Kleven et al. (2019b). The study confirms that women encounter large short- and long-term child penalties in gross labor earnings and that penalties are associated with employment participation. Taxes and social security transfers considerably reduce the child penalty, which also varies by the number of children. peerReviewed
