Les enjeux cognitifs et linguistiques du sujet parlant plurilingue en néoténie linguistique : le cas du locuteur chypriote-grec
2019
It is not realistic to claim that a speaker can use a language perfectly or that he /she has an excellent knowledge of whichever language, like many speakers like to claim when asked. It is true that a speaker may have some excellent linguistic skills, however cognitively speaking, this doesn’t say much. The cognitive relations that we maintain with the world’s languages are far beyond the linguistic dimension, excessively found in textbooks. Speaking a language means being able to exist in that language, in the sense that our being is there registered. We are led by our linguistic intuition to express ourselves and we do it spontaneously with respect to each language’s boundaries. However,…

Bayesian Game Model: Demand Side Management for Residential Consumers with Electric Vehicles
2019
This paper proposes the game theory enabled approach for the integration of electric vehicles for demand side management (DSM). Demand side management is very complex with conventional approaches. In order to the efficient mechanism of a game theory enabled approach may resolve the complexity. With the increased penetration level of electric vehicles it will be difficult to control grid-to-vehicle integration. The Bayesian game theory provides the solution of such problems in an organized manner. In the presence of distributed energy resources, Electric vehicles will play an important role to stabilize the grid integration. Electric Vehicles consume power during off-peak load period and inj…
Study on the determination of trace rhenium (VII) by the adsorption differential pulse polarography
1989
The determination of trace rhenium (VII) by differential pulse polarography in the system of H2SO4-(NHsOH)2 · H2SO4-TeO2−4 is markedly improved by the addition of Nitron, which is adsorbed on the surface of mercury electrode. The limit of detection is down to 2 × 1010 M. The adsorptive peak potential is −0.80 V (vs. SCE). In the ranges of 5 × 1010—10−8, 1 × 10−5—10−7 and 1 × 10−7—10−6M, there are good linear relationships between the peak current increment and the concentration, of which the relative standard deviations are 9.5, 6.6, 1.8% respectively with the correlation coefficients of linear regression of 0.995–0.999. The results relating to this polarographic wave show that it is an ads…
Low-Q peak in X-ray patterns of choline-phenylalanine and homophenylalanine: a combined effect of chain and stacking
2016
Abstract In this contribution we report for the first time the X-ray patterns of choline-phenylalanine and choline-homophenylalanine ionic liquids. The presence of a low Q peak in both systems is another evidence that a long alkyl chain is not always needed to establish a nanodomain segregation in the liquid sufficient to be revealed by the diffraction experiment. These new data are compared with the diffraction patterns and the theoretical calculations of other choline-aminoacid ionic liquids recently reported. A significant role might be played by the stacking interactions between aromatic rings.
Dyck paths with a first return decomposition constrained by height
2018
International audience; We study the enumeration of Dyck paths having a first return decomposition with special properties based on a height constraint. We exhibit new restricted sets of Dyck paths counted by the Motzkin numbers, and we give a constructive bijection between these objects and Motzkin paths. As a byproduct, we provide a generating function for the number of Motzkin paths of height k with a flat (resp. with no flats) at the maximal height. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. Measuring Public Speaking Anxiety: Self-report, behavioral, and physiological
2021
Self-reports are typically used to assess public speaking anxiety. In this study, we examined whether self-report, observer report, and behavioral and physiological reactivity were associated with each other during a speech challenge task. A total of 95 university students completed a self-report measure of public speaking anxiety before and after the speech challenge. Speech duration (i.e., behavioral measure), physiological reactivity, as well as speech performance evaluated by the participants and observers were also recorded. The results suggest that self-reported public speaking anxiety predicts speech duration, as well as speech quality, as rated by the participants themselves and ob…
Am I Irrelevant? Does the Finnish business community prefer native or non-native speaking English teachers?
2009
Medical Academic Speech. A Corpus-based Investigation of Same-Speaker Most Frequent Content Key Word Repetition in Non-Native English Discourse
2016
Studies on repetition in ELF interactions have been carried out in several domains, but medical academic discourse still remains under-researched. This paper explores same-speaker repetition in a 31,153-word corpus of lectures included in the 100,135-word medical section of the 1 million-word ELFA (English as a Lingua Franca in Academic Settings) corpus. More specifi cally, the corpus was searched for the most frequent same-speaker content key word repetition and corresponding functions, with both immediate and delayed repetition being scrutinized. The results confi rmed the initial hypothesis according to which same-speaker repetition was expected to be pervasive in the data, not only as a…
