Camera-based measurement of relative image contrast in projection displays

2013

International audience; This research investigated the measured contrast of projection displays based on pictures taken by un-calibrated digital cameras under typical viewing conditions. A high-end radiometer was employed as a reference to the physical response of projection luminance. Checkerboard, gray scale and color complex test images with a range of the projector's brightness and contrast settings were projected. Two local and two global contrast metrics were evaluated on the acquired pictures. We used contrast surface plots and Pearson correlation to investigate the measured contrast versus the projector's brightness and contrast settings. The results suggested, as expected, the proj…

Repeatability Study on a Classifier for Gastric Cancer Detection from Breath Sensor Data

2019

The SNIFFPHONE device is a portable multichannel gas sensor, aiming to detect gastric cancer (GC) from breath samples. It employs gold nanoparticle (GNP) sensors reacting to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the exhaled breath, a non-invasive technique to support early diagnosis. This study evaluates the repeatability of the SNIFFPHONE classification result for measurements conducted on healthy subjects over a short period of time of less than 10 minutes. Due to the portable nature of the device, repeatability is studied with respect to varying measurement location. We find the classification results repeatable with a statistically significant 81 % Pearson correlation coefficient, even t…

Validity and Reliability of a New Optoelectronic System for Measuring Active Range of Motion of Upper Limb Joints in Asymptomatic and Symptomatic Sub…

2019

The aim of this study was to evaluate the validity of the Veloflex infrared dynamic angle-meter (Veloflex-IDA) and the intra- and inter-rater reliability when measuring the ranges of motion (ROMs) of the upper limb joints. Thirty-five healthy and 20 symptomatic participants were evaluated. Twelve upper limb movements were measured in two sessions with the Veloflex-IDA, which is a device composed of a camera that tracks the trajectory of retro-reflective markers. In addition, a goniometer was used in the first session to evaluate concurrent validity. Validity and agreement were evaluated by Pearson correlation coefficient (r) and Bland&ndash

Style partycypacji kulturalnej człowieka dorosłego. Walidacja narzędzia pomiarowego

2018

The article presents a measurement tool validation process diagnosing an adult person’s cultural participation styles. Its objective is to describe the obtained results at individual stages of the validation and determine the connection between cultural participation styles and cultural systems presented by sociologists of culture. Consequently, cultural participation style of an adult person is the subject of the research. The pilot studies as well as the actual research have been conducted in Opolskie province. The research sample amounted to 100 respondents, then 400 respondents, respectively. The theoretical construct of Kazimierz Obuchowski describing the objective and subjective stand…

Evaluation of Podalic Support and Monitoring of Balance Control in Children with and without Dyslexia: A Pilot Study

2020

Background: The American Psychiatric Association has identified dyslexia as a neurobiological disorder. The aim of the study was to evaluate podalic support, balance control, and dyslexia’s effects on interpersonal relationships. Methods: Fifty-seven subjects were enrolled for this study. The subjects were divided into two groups. The experimental group was composed of children with diagnosis of dyslexia. The control group was composed of healthy subjects. Each subject underwent baropodometry and posturographic analysis. In addition, the Multidimensional Self-esteem Assessment test by Bracken was used for a precise measurement of self-esteem in both groups (TMA). Results: The static b…

An Optoelectronic System for Measuring the Range of Motion in Healthy Volunteers: A Cross-Sectional Study.

2019

Background and Objectives: Within the clinical evaluation of multiple pathologies of the lower limb, the measurement of range of motion (ROM) of its joints is fundamental. To this end, there are various tools, from the goniometer as a reference to more recent devices such as inclinometry-based applications, photo capture applications, or motion capture systems. This study aimed to assess the validity, intra-rater, and inter-rater reliability of the VeloFlex system (VS), which is a new camera-based tool designed for tracking joint trajectories and measuring joint ROM. Testing for a breakpoint in segmented regression: a pseudo score approach

2011

To overcome the well known oddities in testing for the existence of a breakpoint in segmented regression models, we discuss a novel approach based on the Pearson X2 statistic which can be understood as an approximation of the Score statistic. We describe the method and present results from some simulations.

Prickly pear pulp in the feeding of livestock ruminants: preliminary investigation

2019

In Sicily, the current increasing cultivation of Opuntia ficus-indica (L.) Mill. corresponds to a availability of prickly pears pulp (PPP) that residues from fruits processing for juice extraction, comprised of peel, pulp and seeds. This investigation aim to evaluate the nutritional traits of PPP for ruminants feeding, and the effect of potassium metabisulfite (PMB) as a natural stabilizer to limit initial rapid PPP fermentation. The by-product, collected in August, included 28% of peel and pulp (PP) and 72% of seeds on dry matter (DM), with seeds higher in ether extract (EE) and NDF and comparable for DM and crude protein (CP) (DM 35.5, 35.9 and 35.6%; EE 6.5, 3.6 and 8.5% DM; CP 6.5, 6.0 …

ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF EXOGENOUS FACTORS ON THE FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF ROMANIAN COMMERCIAL BANKS LISTED ON BUCHAREST STOCK EXCHANGE

2015

The interest of both creditors and debtors of a credit institution on the performance registered by commercial banks imposed shaping high prudential standards designed to not upset the credit institution and to contribute decisively to increase their health profitability. On bank performance it shows a significant influence on many factors. The study focuses its attention on the impact of research that external factors are likely to print to financial rate of credit institutions (one of the classic indicators used to measure bank performance). The variables studied were represented by: - external factors: GDP, inflation and exchange rate leu-euro - considered to be independent variables and…

ANALYSIS OF CORRELATION BETWEEN TAX REVENUES AND OTHER ECONOMIC INDICATORS IN EUROPEAN UNION MEMBER STATES

2014

This paper aims to identify the presence or absence of a connection between some factors that influence the evolution of tax revenue in the EU and to quantify its intensity using Pearson correlation coefficient. Testing the bivariate correlation between tax revenues and a range of 15 causal factors lead to a division of variables that determine the evolution of tax revenues into three categories: significant factors such as GDP, net national income per capita, gross added value, gross salary, current account balance, less significant factors of tax revenue such as the employment rate, public expenditures, public debt, and foreign direct investment, and non-factors of tax revenues such as un…
