Providing pediatric well-care and sick visits in the COVID-19 pandemic era: the recommendations of the Italian pediatric society.

AbstractPediatricians have observed a significant decrease in in-person child health visits during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the post lockdown period, the coronavirus trend remains positive in Italy but fears of a second wave have recently grown in Italy due to active hotbeds of contagion. The pandemic may negatively affect the care of pediatric patients and overall children welfare as it may present with severe signs and symptoms or it may complicate. The Italian Pediatric Society recommend to separate well visits from sick ones, to educate families and to promote hygienic strategies to provide an adequate pediatric assistance in case of a second pandemic wave.

Children infection by Cryptosporidium sp. have been communicated since 1976 usually associated to acute diarrohoeal disease. This protozoa has been isolated recently in SIDA patients with serious illness. Three new cases, the first of spanish pediatric literature, are described in this paper. Children were males; two of them twins. Age ranged 24 to 27 m. All lived in Valencia, and went to infant's school with high stand of living and domestic animal relationship. The effect of nacom (L-dopa and L-carbidopa) on growth hormone secretion in 75 patients with short stature.

The stimulatory effect of Nacom (250 mg L-Dopa and 25 mg L-Carbidopa) on the HGH secretion was evaluated in 75 short stature patients. The number of blood samples was restricted to only three (0, 45 and 90 min). 63 patients reached adequate HGH concentrations after the ingestion of 1 tablet Nacom (84%). Somatotropin levels increased from 2.08 (Sx 0.28) to a maximal HGH value of 14.22 (Sx 0.87) ng/ml. When the stimulatory effect of Nacom was compared with the standard method of arginine infusion in children with normal stature the arginine test was not superior to the Nacom-test. Bascule syndrome associated with syncopal episodes.

Bascule syndrome is a recently described benign vasomotor dermatosis characterized by Bier anemic spots, cyanosis, and urticaria-like eruption. We report a case of a 13-year-old girl with cutaneous lesions consistent with Bascule syndrome who had had three exercise-related syncopal episodes. It would be recommended to exclude orthostatic intolerance or postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome when evaluating patients with Bascule syndrome.
