Digital Citizenship: A Survey On Teachers' Perception And Teaching Practices

2021

Nowadays citizens live in communities made up of complex interweaving of physical reality, technologies, digital media and social networks and are faced with a completely new set of challenges and opportunities that require a critical and cultured citizenship, capable of dealing with differences in a way responsible and humane. Digital citizenship is defined as the acceptable, ethical, and responsible use of technology that emphasizes a more collaborative, creative, and self-empowering use of technology in education as well as in personal use. Teachers are essential in helping students develop digital citizenship skills as they model and teach digital citizenship in their classrooms. Teache…

MLP Neural Network Implementation on a SIMD Architecture

2002

An Automatic Road Sign Recognition System {A(RS)2} is aimed at detection and recognition of one or more road signs from realworld color images. The authors have proposed an A(RS)2 able to detect and extract sign regions from real world scenes on the basis of their color and shape features. Classification is then performed on extracted candidate regions using Multi-Layer Perceptron neural networks. Although system performances are good in terms of both sign detection and classification rates, the entire process requires a large computational time, so real-time applications are not allowed. In this paper we present the implementation of the neural layer on the Georgia Institute of Technology …

Past, ongoing, and future debate on the interplay between internationalization and digitalization

2020

AbstractThe interplay between internationalization and digitalization (IDI) is a relatively young research domain that is finding its way into numerous academic journals, which motivates us to systematically portray the proceedings and evolutions of this interplay over time, analyze its methodological and theoretical background and, more importantly, provide insights to guide future research on these phenomena. Combining qualitative and quantitative approaches, we analyze 68 peer-reviewed international business and management papers to explore the structure of knowledge production and identify the emerging trends. Our research reveals four key stages of the debate: (a) how IDI influencesint…

Parental beliefs and their role in child-rearing

2001

Beliefs have been a topic of considerable interest among researchers in various fields. In this article 71 articles reporting a study on parental beliefs and published in the course of fifteen years (1980–1995) are reviewed. After clarifying the term ‘belief’, the topics and the methodological solutions of the studies are discussed. Throughout the discussion the question of the origins of parental beliefs and the belief — behaviour dilemma are dealt with. Finally, the implications of the findings and suggestions for future research are presented.

Mentor – A Trustee for Disadvantaged Youth

2015

<p><em><span lang="EN-GB">The perception of oneself and the surrounding environment are developed during childhood. The behaviour of others directly influences the attitude towards oneself and decisions and observations about one`s value. One of the biggest deficiencies of institutional out-of-family care that significantly hinders the comprehensive development of children is the inability of children to form close bonds with adults. To come to a conclusion that you are not loved and worthless means the feel of deep disappointment. The child becomes shore that he has been deceived and abandoned. These thoughts evoke protests, depression, and insecurity. Due to these miscon…

Regular Minimality and Thurstonian-type modeling

2009

Abstract A Thurstonian-type model for pairwise comparisons is any model in which the response (e.g., “they are the same” or “they are different”) to two stimuli being compared depends, deterministically or probabilistically, on the realizations of two randomly varying representations (perceptual images) of these stimuli. The two perceptual images in such a model may be stochastically interdependent but each has to be selectively dependent on its stimulus. It has been previously shown that all possible discrimination probability functions for same–different comparisons can be generated by Thurstonian-type models of the simplest variety, with independent percepts and deterministic decision ru…

Assonanze ritmiche tra movimento grafico e segno digitale

2015

Is backward disequilibrium in the elderly caused by an abnormal perception of verticality? A pilot study

2007

International audience; OBJECTIVE: We hypothesised that backward disequilibrium (BD), defined by a posterior position of the centre of mass with respect to the base of support, could be caused by a backward tilt in the perception of verticality. METHODS: The relationship between BD, the perception of verticality, and the history of falls in 25 subjects aged 84.5+/-7.4 years was analysed. An original ordinal scale, the BD scale (BDS), was used to quantify BD. Postural (PV) and haptic verticals (HV) were measured in sagittal plane. RESULTS: BDS scores closely correlated with the number of falls (r = 0.81, p =10(-5)). The more the PV was tilted backward, the greater the BDS scores (r = -0.95, …
