Intramolecular versus intermolecular exchange pathways in the binuclear complex [Cu2(H2tea)2(4,4′-bipy)](ClO4)2·3H2O (H3tea=triethanolamine and 4,4′-…
2001
Abstract The binuclear copper(II) complex of formula [Cu2(H2tea)2(4,4′-bipy)](ClO4)2·3H2O (1) (H3tea=triethanolamine and 4,4′-bipy=4,4′-bipyridine) has been isolated and characterized by X-ray diffraction. Its structure consists of dinuclear [Cu2(H2tea)2(4,4′-bipy)]2+ cations, uncoordinated perchlorate anions and crystallization water molecules. Each copper atom exhibits a trigonal-bipyramidal environment with the three triethanolamine-oxygen atoms building the equatorial plane, and the triethanolamine-nitrogen and one of the 4,4′-bipy nitrogen atoms defining the three-fold axis. The 4,4′-bipy molecule acts as a bismonodentate bridging ligand, the copper–copper separation across it being 11…
Synthesis and Characterization of Copper Complexes Containing the Tripodal N7 Ligand Tris{2-[(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amino]ethyl}amine (=N′-(Pyridin-2-yl…

The stability constants of the CuII chelates with the tripodal heptadentate ligand tris{2-[(2-pyridylmethyl)amino]ethyl}amine (=N′-(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-N,N-bis{2-[(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amino]ethyl}ethane-1,2-diamine; tpaa), determined by potentiometry and UV spectrometry, show the formation of [Cu(tpaaH)]3+ and [Cu(tpaa)]2+ species. In the solid state, two mononuclear CuII compounds, [Cu(tpaa)](PF6)2 (1) and [Cu(tpaaH)](ClO4)3⋅H2O (2), and one trinuclear [Cu3(tpaa)2(ClO4)2](ClO4)4⋅2 H2O (3) complex were isolated and characterized by IR, UV/VIS, and EPR spectroscopy. An X-ray structure of the mononuclear protonated complex 2 shows that the Cu2+ ion has a distorted square-pyramidal geometry (τ=…
Crystal structures and magnetic properties of uniform and alternating azido-bridged (2,2′-bipyridyl)copper(II) chains
1998
Abstract Single crystals of four copper(II) complexes of formula [Cu(bipy)(N3)2]n (1,2), [Cu(bipy)2(N3)(ClO4)] (3) and [Cubipy)2(N3)]ClO4 (4) (bipy=2,2′-bipyridine) were obtained from aqueous solutions containing (2,2′-bipyridyl) copper(II) perchlorate and sodium azide, and their crystal structures were determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The structures of compounds 1 and 4 were already known, but the better accuracy of our structural determination of complex 1 led us to reconsider it here. The structures of compounds 1 and 2 are made up of neutral chains of copper(II) ions bridged by two azide groups exhibiting asymmetrical end-on (1) and alternating asymmetrical end-on and end-to-end…
Lipid-Altering Efficacy of Ezetimibe/Simvastatin 10/20 mg Compared to Rosuvastatin 10 mg in High-Risk Patients with and without Type 2 Diabetes Melli…
2010
AIMS: This post hoc analysis compared the effects of switching to ezetimibe/simvastatin 10/20 mg (EZE/SIMVA) or rosuvastatin 10 mg (ROSUVA) in uncontrolled high-risk hypercholesterolemic patients with/without type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) despite statin monotherapy. METHODS: Patients (n = 618) at high risk for coronary vascular disease with elevated LDL-C ≥100 and ≤190 mg/dL despite use of statins were randomized 1:1 to double-blind EZE/SIMVA 10/20 mg or ROSUVA 10 mg for 6 weeks. Patients were classified as having T2DM based on ≥1 of the following: diagnosis of T2DM, antidiabetic medication, or FPG ≥126 mg/dL. This analysis evaluated percent changes from baseline in lipids among patients …
Ion transport through polyelectrolyte multilayers under steady-state conditions
2004
Abstract The permeability of a self-assembled polyelectrolyte multilayer to small ions under the influence of an applied potential difference is studied as a function of the number of layers and the nature of the supporting electrolyte. The multilayer is described as a series of homogeneously charged membranes with alternating sign of their fixed charge. Ion transport is described on the basis of the diffusion equation and the assumption of (Donnan) electrochemical equilibrium at the boundaries between layers. The calculated steady-state current–voltage curves are found to be in good agreement with experimental linear sweep voltammograms (at low sweep rate). The permeability of polystyrenes…

Abstract Ferrocenecarboxaldehyde reacts with 2-amino-benzoic acid, 2-amino-5-methyl-benzoic acid or 3-amino-2-naphthoic acid to give the corresponding Schiff-base derivatives 2-ferrocenylmethylidenimino-benzoic acid (1), 2-ferrocenylmethylidenimino-5-methyl-benzoic acid (2) and 3-ferrocenylmethylidenimino-2-naphthoic acid (3). 1, 2 and 3 are stable in the solid state but easily hydrolyze in solution. This hydrolysis has been studied kinetically in a methanol-water medium. In order to increase the stability in solution to use these compounds as ligands, the imino group from 1, 2 and 3 was reduced by NaBH4 to give the amino derivatives 2-ferrocenylmethylamino-benzoic acid (4), 2-ferrocenylmet…
Polycatenane systems from Co(II) and trans-1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethene (bpe). Synthesis and structure of Co(bpe)2(NCS)2·CH3OH, [Co(bpe)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2·2…
2001
Three new compounds of formulae Co(bpe)2(NCS)2·CH3OH, 1, [Co(bpe)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2·2CH3OH, 2 and [Co(bpe)2(H2O)2(CH3OH)2](ClO4)2·bpe·H2O, 3, [bpe = trans-1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethene] have been synthesised and characterised by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The metal environment in 1–3 is distorted octahedral. Compound 1 is a polycatenane. Its structure consists of parallel layers containing Co2+ ions linked by bpe ligands, the Co···Co distance through the bpe bridge being 13.65(3) A. Each metal ion, in a layer, defines the edges of a rhombus. Two thiocyanate groups trans-coordinated to the metal atoms are perpendicular to the sheets. Each sheet has an infinite number of perpendicular sheets …
Occurrence of retene and resin acids in sediments and fish bile from a lake receiving pulp and paper mill effluents
1999
Retene (7-isopropyl−1-methylphenanthrene) is a dialkyl-substituted PAH derived thermally and microbially from dehydroabietic acid. We have analyzed for retene and several resin acids in sediments at five depths at several sites in a lake receiving effluents from three pulp and paper mills, and two upstream reference sites. The highest concentration of retene was 1,600 μg/g dry weight (11,700 μg/g organic carbon [OC]) and of total resin acids was 1,500 μg/g dry weight (9,300 μg/g OC). Twelve kilometers downstream from the point of bleached-kraft mill effluent (BKME) discharge, the concentration of retene at a depth of 5 to 10 cm was 16 μg/g dry weight (650 μg/g OC) and of resin acids was 139…

Push-out bond strength of different endodontic obturation material at three different sites : in-vitro study
2017
BACKGROUND The key to success of any root canal therapy is adequate obturation of the prepared root canal space. Root canal sealers are not dimensionally stable and might dissolve partially over a period of time. The objective of this in vitro study is to evaluate the push-out bond strength to intraradicular dentin of two endodontic obturation materials. MATERIAL AND METHODS Forty extracted single rooted permanent teeth were used. Canals orifice was explored, teeth were instrumented. The samples were divided into two groups each containing twenty specimens obturated with different obturation material (Group1 Epiphany/Resilon and Group 2 Gutta Percha/AH Plus). The obturation systems used in t…
