Design and simulation of efficient combinational circuits based on a new XOR structure in QCA technology
2021
AbstractQuantum-dot cellular automata (QCA), due to its unique characteristics like low power consumption, nanoscale design, and high computing speed is considered as an emerging technology, and it can be used as an alternative for CMOS technology in circuit design for quantum computers in the near future. XOR gate has many applications in the design of digital circuits in QCA. In this paper, an efficient novel structure of XOR gate is proposed in QCA. Also, a novel 1-bit comparator circuit, 1-bit full adder, binary to gray and gray to binary convertor code based on the proposed XOR is designed and simulated using QCADesigner 2.0.3. The simulation results demonstrated that the proposed stru…
Standing time and daily proportion of sedentary time are associated with pain-related disability in a one month accelerometer measurement in adults w…
2022
Abstract Objectives: The association between the subjective experience of pain-related disability (PRD) and device-measured physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB) in overweight and obese adults is not well known. The aim of this study was to investigate the associations of pain markers with accelerometer-measured SB duration and different intensities of PA among physically inactive middle-aged adults with overweight or obesity. Methods: This cross-sectional analysis included 72 subjects (27 men) with mean age of 57.9 (SD 6.7) years and mean BMI of 31.6 (SD 4.1) kg/m². SB and standing time (ST), breaks in sedentary time, light physical activity (LPA) and moderate-to-vigorous phys…
Effects of Functional Strength Training on Functional Movement and Balance in Middle-Aged Adults
2021
Functional movement deficiencies cause falls and injuries in adults. Functional strength training (FST) is emerging as a new training method for athletes, middle-aged and older adults, to improve functional movement: The present study was conducted in order to investigate the effects of FST on balance and functional movement in healthy and independent middle-aged adults. The sample for this study consisted of 46 physically active individuals (24 female and 22 male). A total of 46 subjects were divided based on randomly into the functional strength training (FST) group (n = 26) aged: 51.55 ± 3.73 years; height: 168.69 ± 8.8 cm; body mass: 75.88 ± 12.18; and traditional s…
A Performance Evaluation of Fusion Techniques for Spatio-Temporal Saliency Detection in Dynamic Scenes
2013
International audience; Visual saliency is an important research topic in computer vision applications, which helps to focus on regions of interest instead of processing the whole image. Detecting visual saliency in still images has been widely addressed in literature. However, visual saliency detection in videos is more complicated due to additional temporal information. A spatio-temporal saliency map is usually obtained by the fusion of a static saliency map and a dynamic saliency map. The way both maps are fused plays a critical role in the accuracy of the spatio-temporal saliency map. In this paper, we evaluate the performances of different fusion techniques on a large and diverse datas…
Study on the financial performance of companies operating in the pharmaceutical industry in romania
2016
Abstract The study aims at determining the financial performance of companies in the pharmaceutical industry between 2009 and 2014 by means of the indicator of the financial return rate, using multiple linear regressions as research method. By analysing the evolution of the share of companies in the pharmaceutical industry based on the trend of the financial rate of return, we can estimate that the number of entities that resort to supporting the financial activities from loans and liabilities is growing in the period under analysis. This is due mainly to the liquidity crisis faced by entities, as a result of the high recovery duration of debts. Also, using the multiple linear regression we…
An exploratory study of gazing behavior during live performance
2009
It is known that the visual information given by performers during a performance works as a useful channel of communication to the audience. In my previous studies, many performers referred to the importance of gazing behavior or eye contact. The purpose of this research is to explore the role of gaze during live performance by measuring the timing and direction of gazing. The hypotheses are as follows: [1] Gazing behavior depends on the musical structure. [2] Gazing behavior is used for the communication between performers which is necessary during performance. [3] Performers set their gazing direction in order to contribute to the audience’s understanding of the music. This research was e…
Mesoporous silica microparticles gated with a bulky azo derivative for the controlled release of dyes/drugs in colon.
2018
[EN] Mesoporous silica microparticles were prepared, loaded with the dye safranin O (M-Saf) or with the drug budesonide (M-Bud) and capped by the grafting of a bulky azo derivative. Cargo release from M-Saf at different pH values (mimicking those found in the gastrointestinal tract) in the absence or presence of sodium dithionite (a reducing agent mimicking azoreductase enzyme present in the colon) was tested. Negligible safranin O release was observed at pH 6.8 and 4.5, whereas a moderate delivery at pH 1.2 was noted and attributed to the hydrolysis of the urea bond that linked the azo derivative onto the external surface of the inorganic scaffold. Moreover, a marked release was observed w…
Interaction of sight and sound in the perception and experience of musical performance
2016
Recently, Vuoskoski, Thompson, Clarke, and Spence (2014) demonstrated that visual kinematic performance cues may be more important than auditory performance cues in terms of observers’ ratings of expressivity perceived in audiovisual excerpts of piano playing, and that visual kinematic performance cues had crossmodal effects on the perception of auditory expressivity. The present study was designed to extend these findings, and to provide additional information about the roles of sight and sound in the perception and experience of musical performance. Experiment 1 investigated the relative contributions of auditory and visual kinematic performance features to participants’ subjective emotio…

Approaching the whole quality of buildings: methods for the evaluation of economic, energetic and environmental issues
2002
In this work the energy, economy and environment ("three E") requirements for buildings are approached in a joint view, by means of an application to an example building typical of the Italian building stock. With this aim, the rate of involvement of renewable sources is here considered for linking energy and environmental characteristics. Economic and environmental features are joint by means of the evaluation of the cost of the saved CO2. Economic and energy characteristics are linked by means of the cost of the saved energy. In turn, the environmental ambit is addressed by means of the ecoprofile methodology and of the environmental labelling of buildings. This should lead toward a first…
