2015

An interaction peripheral device capable of controlling an element for touching and grasping multidimensional virtual objects, including at least two interaction modules, each interaction module being intended to be actuated by a finger of an operator and including a control sensor allowing control of displacement, according to a predetermined number of degrees of freedom, of a portion of the element for touching and grasping virtual objects by bending/extending and/or adduction/abduction displacement of the finger of the operator, and a vibrator able to emit a vibration upon touching and/or letting go of a virtual object by a portion of said element for touching and grasping virtual object…

High fat diet rapidly induces brain-plasticity-related transcriptomic signature in hypothalamus: role in energy homeostasis

2010

Poster board E12 (1 page) ; Session 203 - Food intake regulation 3 - Abstract n° 203.1 - Publication ref.: FENS Abstr., vol.5, 203.1, 2010; International audience; We have investigated the early events that are induced by a hypercaloric hyperlipidic diet in mice. The high fat diet rapidly induced metabolic imbalance, as soon as the first day, which is characterized. by a large increase in energy intake and several others metabolic alterations such as. hypercholesterolemia, and glucose intolerance. However, the diet-induced metabolic imbalance was. fully reversed after a week, suggesting that a physiological adaptive response has been then induced,. probably in order to counteract the delete…

Single-cell RNA sequencing unveils the shared and the distinct cytotoxic hallmarks of human TCRVδ1 and TCRVδ2 γδ T lymphocytes

2019

γδ T lymphocytes represent ∼1% of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells and even more cells in most tissues of vertebrates. Although they have important anticancer functions, most current single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) studies do not identify γδ T lymphocytes because their transcriptomes at the single-cell level are unknown. Here we show that high-resolution clustering of large scRNA-seq datasets and a combination of gene signatures allow the specific detection of human γδ T lymphocytes and identification of their T cell receptor (TCR)Vδ1 and TCRVδ2 subsets in large datasets from complex cell mixtures. In t -distributed stochastic neighbor embedding plots from blood and tumor sa…

Some Plant Defense Stimulators can induce IL-1β production in human immune cells in vitro

2020

8 pages; International audience; Among Plant Protection Products (PPP), a new emerging category of pesticides act by stimulating plant defense in order to improve plant resistance against microbial pathogens. Given that these compounds, the so-called Plant Defense Stimulators (PDS) act on innate immunity, we tested, using an in vitro approach on human mononuclear leucocytes (PBMC), the potential toxicity (XTT assay) and inflammatory effects (production of IL-1β) of 4 PPP belonging to different chemical families. We found that two products (LBG-01F34® and Regalis®) did not induce any cytotoxicity or IL-1 β production. The product BION-50 WG®, that contains Acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM) and sili…

Muscle Function Differences between Patients with Bulbar and Spinal Onset Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Does It Depend on Peripheral Glucose?

2021

Background: One of the pathogenic mechanisms of ALS disease is perturbed energy metabolism particularly glucose metabolism. Given the substantial difference in the severity and the prognosis of the disease, depending on whether it has a bulbar or spinal onset, the aim of the study was to determine metabolic differences between both types of ALS, as well as the possible relationship with muscle function. Materials and Methods: A descriptive, analytical, quantitative, and transversal study was carried out in hospitals and Primary Care centers in the region of Valencia, Spain. Fasting glucose and alkaline phosphatase (AP) levels in venous blood, muscle percentage, fat percentage, muscle streng…

Number, identity, and sequence of the Drosophila head segments as revealed by neural elements and their deletion patterns in mutants.

1994

The development of the insect head tagma involves massive rearrangements and secondary fusions of segment anlagen during embryogenesis. Due to the lack of reliable morphological markers, the number, identity, and sequence of the head segments, particularly in the pregnathal region, are still a matter of ongoing debates. We examined the complex array of internal structures of the embryonic Drosophila melanogaster head such as the sensory structures and nerves of the peripheral and stomatogastric nervous systems, and we used embryonic head mutations causing a lack of overlapping segment anlagen to unravel the segmental identity and the sequence of the neural elements. Our results provide evid…

The Role of Physical Exercise and Rehabilitative Implications in the Process of Nerve Repair in Peripheral Neuropathies: A Systematic Review

2023

Background: The various mechanisms involved in peripheral nerve regeneration, induced by exercise and electrical nerve stimulation, are still unclear. Objective: The aim of this review was to summarize the influence of physical exercise and/or electrical stimulation on peripheral nerve repair and regeneration and the variation of impact of intervention depending on timing, as well as kind and dosage of the intervention. A literature survey was conducted on PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, between February 2021 to July 2021, with an update in September 2022. Methodology: The literature search identified 101,386 articles with the keywords: “peripheral nerve” OR “neuropathy” AND “sprouting”…

Relapse risk after autologous transplantation in patients with newly diagnosed myeloma is not related with infused tumor cell load and the outcome is…

2006

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: This European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) multicentre randomized phase III study was designed to assess the safety and efficacy of CD34+ selection in newly diagnosed myeloma patients undergoing autologous transplantation. DESIGN AND METHODS: One hundred and eleven patients responsive to initial chemotherapy were randomized to receive CD34+ selected (arm A) or unselected PBPC (arm B) after conditioning with high-dose melphalan and TBI. ASO-PCR was used to assess purging efficacy and reinfused tumor load. Tumor load could be assessed in 59 patients. RESULTS: CD34+ selection gave a median tumor cell depletion of 2.2 logs (0.77-5.96). No tumor ce…

A comparative study of the in vitro immunomodulatory activity of human intact immunoglobulin (7S IVIG), F(ab′) 2 fragments (5S IVIG) and Fc fragments…

1997

During the past few decades intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) has been used successfully in the treatment of various immunoregulatory disorders. Treatment results have been attributed to immunomodulation mainly via Fc receptors or by anti-idiotypic antibodies to disease-causing autoantibodies. From the present study it is clearly evident that 7S IVIG (intact immunoglobulin) as well as 5S IVIG [F(ab')2 fragments] and Fc fragments have a potent immunomodulatory capacity. We demonstrate that mainly 7S IVIG inhibits alloantigen-induced T-cell proliferation and generation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Reduced interleukin-2 (IL-2) protein levels in culture supernatants of IVIG-supplemented mixed ly…
