In this article, the effective permittivity of two-phase dielectric mixtures is calculated by applying the transmission line matrix (TLM) method. Two slightly different TLM algorithms are considered: a hybrid approach, which combines the TLM method with a subgriding technique based on dual capacitor circuits, to allow a refined description of the material, and a standard or pure TLM approach, which uses a mesh size smaller than the typical dimension of insertions in order to appropriately describe details of the geometry. Uniaxial Pressure Effect on Dielectric Properties of 0.7Na0. 5Bi0.5TiO3‐0.3SrTiO3Ceramics

The 0.7Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-0.3SrTiO3 ceramics were prepared by a solid-state mixed-oxide technique at 1180°C. X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy studies revealed that the obtained samples possess perovskite structure. The behaviour of the electric permittivity (ɛ) and polarization of these ceramics as a function of uniaxial pressure (0 – 1000 bar) were investigated. Applying pressure shifts and decrease of maximum value of ɛ, a diffuseness of the permittivity characteristics, decrease of the thermal hysteresis and change of the polarization. Structural and Dielectric Properties of Na0.99Li0.01NbO3Ceramics

Na0.99Li 0,01 NbO3 ceramics were prepared by solid-state reaction method. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, microstructure and dielectric permittivity measurements. The X-ray diffraction analysis showed that samples have a single phase of perovskite structure with orthorhombic symmetry. Microstructure investigations revealed crystalline structures in grains. It was found that dielectric properties of Na99Li0.01NbO3 ceramic are sensitive to the applied axial pressure. This includes the shift of phase transformation, diffuseness of the ϵ (T) profile and reduction of the thermal hysteresis. Structural and electric characteristics of (Na0.5Bi0.5)0.50Ba0.50TiO3 and (Na0.5Bi0.5)0.20Ba0.80TiO3 ceramics

Abstract (Na0.5Bi0.5)0.50Ba0.50TiO3 and (Na0.5Bi0.5)0.20Ba0.80TiO3 ceramics have been prepared by the solid state reaction and studied by X-ray diffraction and by measurements of dielectric and ferroelectric properties between room temperature and 550 °C. A sharp increase in the electric permittivity and dielectric loss near 212 °C (for the first material) and near 205 °C (for the second material) on heating with remarkable thermal hysteresis have been observed. This sharp increase in dielectric responses indicates transformation between normal and relaxor ferroelectric states. The Effects of 3d Admixtures on Properties of Relaxor PLZT8/65/35 Ceramics

A study of the effects of the 3d dopants Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu on relaxor behavior and other properties of the ferroelectric PLZT8/65/35(La8) ceramic compound by X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and other techniques is reported. The complex dielectric permittivity ϵ* = ϵ′-iϵ′′ is measured in the 20–400°C range of temperature at frequencies within the range of 102 – 106 Hz. Essential changes caused by the admixtures in the behavior of dielectric permittivity with frequency and temperature are observed along with changes in the XRD SEM patterns are observed. The mechanisms of the phenomena are discussed.

Polarization of SrBi 2 Ta 2 O 9 ceramics at infra‐low frequencies

Dielectric response in the SrBi2Ta2O9 ceramics is studied over a wide range of temperatures at fields up to Emax ≈ 18 kV/cm. Dependence of dielectric permittivity on field intensity is analyzed at different temperatures. A series of polarization loops are obtained at frequencies 0.1 Hz, 1 Hz, and 10 Hz. The hysteresis at switching polarization is displayed by the shape of polarization loops changing with the field amplitude from bi-angles to quasi-saturated loop patterns of a high degree of rectangularity. Description of Relaxor State in Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3-SrTiO3-PbTiO3 System of Solid Solutions

Vogel-Fulcher law, traditionally applied to describe dispersion of dielectric permittivity in relaxor ferroelectrics, requires introduction of two different relaxation mechanisms above and below freezing temperature correspondingly. Extending distribution function of relaxation times, previously known for low-temperature region, allows creating common description of relaxation in all range, where distribution function of relaxation times can be regarded as wide, without freezing at certain temperature.

Research on the electrostatic properties of liquid dielectric mixtures

Abstract This paper presents research results, which confirm the possibility of influencing the electrostatic charge tendency (ECT) of selected mixtures of purely insulating liquids. Tests were performed in a spinning disk system, where the factors influencing the value of the electrification current consisted of variable composition of the toluene–cyclohexane mixture, rotational speed, and a disk diameter. Liquid hydrocarbon mixtures displayed changes in ECT as well as classic insulation parameters such as resistivity and relative permittivity for concentration changes of the admixtures.
