The aim of this study was to examine and interpret teachers’ experiences of pupils with emotional and behavioural disordres in comprehensive schools in Finland. The term ‘pupils with emotional and behavioural disorders’ refers here to children who either cannot or do not want to act according to the general expectations in a school climate. Children live in several social settings that affect their development, of which the most important ones are home and the school. School and choice: An ethnography of a primary school with bilingual classes

Based on a one-year ethnographic study of a primary school in Finland with specialised classes in Finnish and English (referred to as bilingual classes by research participants), this research traces how nationed, ethnicised, classed and gendered differences are produced and gain meaning in school. I examine several aspects of these differences: the ways teachers and parents make sense of school and of school choice; the repertoires of self put forward by teachers, parents and pupils of the bilingual classes, and the institutional and classroom practices in Sunny Lane School (pseudonym). Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää, millä tavoin rehtorit ovat osallisena tehostetun tuen prosessissa. Rehtoreilta kysyttiin olivatko he osallistuneet pedagogisen arvion ja oppimissuunnitelman laatimiseen. Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitettiin myös sitä, eroavatko ala-, ylä- ja yhtenäiskoulujen rehtoreiden näkemykset toisistaan vastuiden ja rehtorin oman osallistumisen näkökulmasta tehostetun tuen prosessissa. Vuonna 2012 kerätty tutkimusaineisto saatiin käyttöön Opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriön rahoittamasta Jonna Pulkkisen ja Markku Jahnukaisen (2015) tutkimuksesta. Computational thinking and acting: An approach for primary school competency development

Computational Thinking has become an important concept for almost all age groups. It describes the purposeful utilization of Information and Communication Technologies for solving problems. The approach of Computational Thinking and Acting combines the computational thinking approach with physical computing, including physical activities to explore real-world problems and tangible outcomes. In this paper, we present a competency framework, design principles, and a sample learning scenario for Computational Thinking and Acting. The evaluation has shown that the approach can be integrated across subjects and is promising for both teachers and pupils. peerReviewed
