Testing a model for the monitoring of worked-out algebra-problem examples: from behaviours to outcomes on a math task

This study aimed at testing an extension of a theoretical model for the metacognitive monitoring mechanism implied in the detection of inconsistencies when the information provided includes abstract symbols in addition to plain text. Ninety-four postgraduates of STEM specialities were asked to read a worked-out algebra-problem example and to report any incoherence, inconsistency, or error detected in the statement or in the solving procedure. A set of model inspired indexes was defined to describe participants¿ behaviour along the task. The article is dedicated to analysis of the statements in the Book of Proverbs concerning man’s wrath. After a preliminary depiction of the attitude of man’s wrath, the author presents the basic vocabulary, namely the nouns and verbs used by the sages of Israel to convey that hard reality. In the second part of the article, after unfolding the structure of Proverbs, particular sayings mentioning the human expression of wrath are discussed. A characteristic feature of the Book of Proverbs is depicting human attitudes in parallel, thus each of the sayings is linked to a suggested positive attitude to be embraced, so as not to yield to the negative inclination toward wrath and impulsiveness. espanolEl objetivo del presente estudio es describir las alteraciones conductuales y emocionales en el sindrome de X fragil (SXF) y analizar las reperecusiones de tener un miembro con SXF en diferentes aspectos del funcionamiento familiar. Participaron 79 padres con un miembro con SXF y 80 padres con un miembro con desarrollo tipico. Los resultados mostraron que entre el 17% y el 66% de los ninos y adolescentes con SXF mostraron trastornos conductuales y emocionales significativos y menos comportamientos prosociales. Muchas teorías se han elaborado con el objeto de identificar los factores que permitan explicar la satisfacción laboral. Una de ellas es el Modelo Social Cognitivo de la Profesión propuesto por Lent. Este modelo propone integrar los factores afectivos-disposicionales y situacionales (condiciones laborales) con elementos socio-cognitivos y conductuales, los cuales afecten la satisfacción laboral. Abstract On the fringes of post-Reformation Europe, church and state authorities faced problems in enforcing church attendance. In the Swedish kingdom, religious uniformity was seen as vital for the success of the state after the Lutheran confession had been established, and absences from church were punishable by law. The seventeenth century saw significant tightening of legislation relating to church absences and other breaches of the Sabbath, and severe punishments were introduced.
