Detection and prevention of enhanced biological phosphorus removal deterioration caused by Zoogloea overabundance.

2008

A sequencing batch reactor was operated in the conventional anaerobic-aerobic mode for enhanced biological phosphorus removal using acetate as the sole substrate. Despite the nutrients concentrations in the influent being high enough to satisfy the biological requirements, Zoogloea ramigera managed to grow in the system until it had negative effects on the process performance. The excess of exocellular polymeric material produced by this microorganism contributed to a viscous bulking phenomenon and caused important settling problems. The examination of the sludge under the microscope was a valuable tool to diagnose the cause of the imbalance in the process. The strategy adopted to avoid the…

Mechanisms of Resistance to the FLT3-Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor PKC412 in Patients with AML.

2004

Abstract The FLT3 receptor tyrosine kinase is expressed in 70-90% of cases of AML. Up to 35% of patients with AML show mutations in the JM-region or kinase domain of FLT3. These lead to autophosphorylation promoting ligand-independent cell proliferation and inhibition of apoptosis. Treatment with FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) is a promising tool in therapy of AML. Preliminary results investigating the FLT3-TKI PKC412 in patients with relapsed/refractory AML revealed that 11/15 patients (73%) with mutated FLT3 and 16/46 patients (35%) with WT FLT3 showed a >50% blast response in peripheral blood (Estey E et al. Blood.2003; 102:919a). Despite its remarkable efficacy in reducing…

Ekstrakcja fosforu z osadów ściekowych i popiołów ze spalania osadów - analiza problemu

2016

Szczególnie cennym źródłem fosforu są popioły z osadów ściekowych i same osady.

Monitoring of FLT3 Phosphorylation and FLT3 Ligand Levels in Patients with FLT3-ITD Mutated Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) Treated with Midostaurin wit…

2018

Abstract Background: Target inhibition of FLT3 by therapy with the recently FDA- and EMA-approved multi-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) midostaurin can be monitored by plasma inhibitor activity (PIA) analysis by visualizing the level of target-dephosphorylation as previously described. When combining intensive chemotherapy with midostaurin, we have recently shown that the TKI achieves the lowest level of FLT3 phosphorylation (p-FLT3) at the end of the 1st induction cycle, indicating a deep target inhibition. However, sufficient inhibition could not be maintained during subsequent cycles by midostaurin in combination with chemotherapy, but it was reestablished during maintenance the…

Color Conversion Light-Emitting Diodes Based on Carbon Dots: A Review

2022

This paper reviews the state-of-the-art technologies, characterizations, materials (precursors and encapsulants), and challenges concerning multicolor and white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on carbon dots (CDs) as color converters. Herein, CDs are exploited to achieve emission in LEDs at wavelengths longer than the pump wavelength. White LEDs are typically obtained by pumping broad band visible-emitting CDs by an UV LED, or yellow–green-emitting CDs by a blue LED. The most important methods used to produce CDs, top-down and bottom-up, are described in detail, together with the process that allows one to embed the synthetized CDs on the surface of the pumping LEDs. Experimental results…

Thermal degradation of microcrystalline cellulose in concentrated phosphoric acid as assessed by HPLC, high field NMR spectroscopy and low field NMR …

2011

The most common renewable fuel is ethanol. It is a liquid produced by fermentation of glucose which is very abundant in cellulose based material sources. Plants produce about 180 billion tons of cellulose per year globally. For this reason cellulose is the largest organic carbon reservoir on Earth. Cellulose is composed exclusively of glucose units linked via B-1,4 glycosidic bonds. Each D-(+)-glucose unit contains three hydroxyl groups, which can form complex spatial networks of inter- and intra- molecular hydrogen bonds. They are responsible for the high crystallinity and compactness of cellulose, thereby making it very resistant to biological and chemical attack. In the presence of miner…
