Combined thermal evaporated and solution processed organic light emitting diodes

Abstract Highly efficient, partly solution processed phosphorescent red, green and white organic light emitting diodes with small molecular weight host materials are prepared from commercially available starting compounds. Starting from an evaporated reference device, layers are stepwise replaced by solution processed layers. Replacing the evaporated hole transport layer by a solution processed polymer interlayer does not affect the performance and allows spincoating of the emissive layer after annealing of the polymer. Ionic iridium complex and conjugated polymer used to solution-process a bilayer white light-emitting diode.

Bilayer white light-emitting devices are prepared from solution, using an ionic orange phosphorescent organometallic complex and a neutral fluorescent conjugated polymer. Because of the very different polarity of the two components, they dissolve in orthogonal solvents, allowing for the direct deposition of the blue emitter on top of the orange emitter without the need of cross-linking or special coating methodology. Fine tuning of the layer thickness of both light-emitting layers allows for the color tuning of different types of white light.

3,3'-Bicarbazole structural derivatives as charge transporting materials for use in OLED devices

In this study we report novel 3,3′-bicarbazole based charge transporting materials mainly designed for a use in systems containing phosphorescent iridium (III) complex emitters. A low-cost oxidative coupling reaction using FeCl3 was employed in the synthesis of 3,3′-bicarbazole compounds. Different derivatives of 3,3′-bicarbazole with 4-ethoxyphenyland ethyl- substituents at 9,9′- positions and (2,2-diphenylhydrazono)methyl- and 4-(dimethylamino)styryl- substituents at 6,6′- positions were synthesized. The Distribution of Carcinogen Metabolizing Enzymes in the Mouse Liver: Comparison of Parenchymal and Non-Parenchymal Cell Populations

The distribution of aminopyrine N-demethylase (APND), ethoxy- resorufin O-deethylase (ERRD), epoxide hydrolase (EH) and glutathione transferase (GST) activities in parenchymal (PC) and non-parenchymal (NPC) cell populations of control and Aroclor 1254-treated C57BL/6N and DBA/2N mice was determined. Furthermore, the metabolism of benzo(a)- pyrene (BP) in PC and NPC of both Aroclor 1254-treated mice strains was examined. Measurable activities of all enzymes investigated were detected in control PC as well as NPC of both mice strains; in all instances the PC possessed greater enzyme activities than did the NPC. Lacustrine, profundal meiobenthic oligochaetes as indicators of trophy and organic loading

Meiobenthic and macrobenthic oligochaetes were collected from two depths in Lake Pajanne and examined together with environmental data in which two environmental gradients can be seen. Numbers of Piguetiella blanci, Aeolosoma quaternarium and Aeolosoma hemprichi were positively correlated with oxygen saturation and negatively correlated with total phosphorus and COD suggesting that these species are indicators of oligotrophic conditions. Numbers of Amphichaeta leydigii, Specaria josinae and Vejdovskyella comata were positively correlated with total phosphorus which implies that these species prefer eutrophic conditions. Morphology control in biphasic hybrid systems of semiconducting materials.

Simple blends of inorganic nanocrystals and organic (semiconducting) polymers usually lead to macroscopic segregation. Thus, such blends typically exhibit inferior properties than expected. To overcome the problem of segregation, polymer coated nanocrystals (nanocomposites) have been developed. Such nanocomposites are highly miscible within the polymer matrix. Solid-state luminescence of Au-Cu-alkynyl complexes induced by metallophilicity-driven aggregation.

A new series of homoleptic alkynyl complexes, [{Au2Cu2(C2R)4}n] (R=C3H7O (1), C6H11O (2), C9H19O (3), C13H11O (4)), were obtained from Au(SC4H8)Cl, Cu(NCMe)4PF6, and the corresponding alkyne in the presence of a base (NEt3). Complexes 1-4 aggregate upon crystallization into polymeric chains through extensive metallophilic interactions. The cluster that contains fluorenolyl functionalities, C13H9O (5), crystallizes in its molecular form as a disolvate, [Au2Cu2(C2C13H9O)4]·2THF. The substitution of weakly bound THF molecules with pyridine molecules leads to the complex [Au2Cu2(C2C13H9O)4]·2py (6), thus giving two polymorphs in the solid state. α2-HS glycoprotein (α2-HS) is a major protein occuring in human blood and calciferous tissues. Due to extensive sequence identity, α2-HS has been grouped with the fetuins, a family of proteins that occur in fetal plasma in high concentrations. Native α2-HS undergoes a series of posttranslational modifications including proteolytic processing, multiple N-glycosylations and O-glycosylations, and sulfation of the carbohydrate side chains. Abstract Azo dyes are currently used to quench the fluorescence of energy donors in bioassays through Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET) phenomenon. Common examples of such dark quenchers are DABCYL and the three members of Black Hole Quencher® (BHQ) family. 2-Carbomethoxybenzoyl chloride reacted with some 5-methylamino-l-phenyl-3-R-pyrazoles to yield N-methyl-l-phenyl-3-R-pyrazol-5-yl)-2-carbomethoxybenzamides. These products were readily transformed into the corresponding acid, which in turn, refluxed in phosphorus oxychloride afforded the tricyclic system, l-phenyl-3-R-pyrazolo[3,4-b]benzazepine-4,9-dione.
