Background Cervical whiplash syndrome, or hyperextension-hyperflexion injury, is a common traumatic injury in sports activities. The mechanisms of injury that cause cervical whiplash syndrome vary, but they may be sufficient enough to cause chronic whiplash syndrome. Methods and Patients Over 150 injuries were recorded in sports in our Orthopaedic Departments between the years of 2008 and 2011. Whiplash spine injuries have been reported in most contact sports, including indoor soccer, basketball, and wrestling, and in several non contact sports, such as diving. However, it is not known whether this effect could be due to better customisation. The present study analysed the effects of the first generation of a microwavable prefabricated self-customised foot orthosis vs. a prefabricated standard one on impact accelerations throughout a prolonged run. Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of joint disease in the world. The diagnosis of OA is currently made by human experts and suffers from subjectivity, but recently new promising detection algorithms have been developed. We validated the current state-of-the-art KL-classifying neural network model for knee OA using knee X-rays taken from postmenopausal women suffering from knee pain attributable to OA. The performance of the model on the clinical data was considerably lower compared to the previous results on population-based test data.
