Photorefractive “camera obscura”

2011

Abstract We demonstrate a novel scheme for lensless image formation which combines the properties of an amplifying dynamic hologram and a pinhole camera. The scheme is realized on the base of a SPS:Sb1% photorefractive crystal working at 633 nm.

Unified description of dispersive wave emission in normal and anomalous dispersion regimes

2016

We present a novel theoretical framework where dispersive wave emission in normal and anomalous dispersion is interpreted based on four-wave mixing processes. It is a powerful tool for designing supercontinuum sources along analytical guidelines.

Near-field optics theories

1996

The development of near-field optics theory is reviewed. We first recall that near-field optics is not limited to near-field microscopy. Broadly speaking, it concerns phenomena involving evanescent electromagnetic waves. The importance of such waves was ignored for a long time in optical and surface physics until the emergence of scanning near-field optical microscopes. Taking evanescent waves into account prevents the use of any simple approximation in the set of Maxwell's equations. The various theoretical approaches of near-field optics are discussed from the point of view of their ability to assess evanescent electromagnetic waves. We discuss the main results of the application of the v…

A topological charge selection rule for phase singularities

2009

We present a study of the dynamics and decay pattern of phase singularities due to the action of a system with a discrete rotational symmetry of finite order. A topological charge conservation rule is identified.

Coherent forward-scattering amplitude in transmission and grazing incidence Mössbauer spectroscopy

1996

The theory of both transmission and grazing incidence M\"ossbauer spectroscopy is re-analyzed. Starting with the nuclear susceptibility tensor a common concise first order perturbation formulation is given by introducing the forward scattering amplitude into an anisotropic optical scheme. Formulae of Blume and Kistner as well as those of Andreeva are re-derived for the forward scattering and grazing incidence geometries, respectively. Limitations of several previously intuitively introduced approximations are pointed out. The grazing incidence integral propagation matrices are written in a form built up from 2x2 matrix exponentials which is particularly suitable for numerical calculations a…

Instabilities of four-wave mixing

2005

We predict that four-wave mixing driven by a dual frequency input undergoes different instability scenarios encompassing modulational instability or multiple shock formation in the anomalous and normal dispersion regime, respectively.

Scattering loss analysis in PMMA WGM micro resonator from surface irregularities

2021

The following work shows new ways to analyze PMMA WGM micro resonators, that have irregularities, which acts as scattering centers. The scattering analyses could be used for integration into sensor systems and corrections of existing experiments.

Analysis of the depth of field of integral imaging displays based on wave optics.

2013

In this paper, we analyze the depth of field (DOF) of integral imaging displays based on wave optics. With considering the diffraction effect, we analyze the intensity distribution of light with multiple micro-lenses and derive a DOF calculation formula for integral imaging display system. We study the variations of DOF values with different system parameters. Experimental results are provided to verify the accuracy of the theoretical analysis. The analyses and experimental results presented in this paper could be beneficial for better understanding and designing of integral imaging displays.
