Luminescence Properties and Energy Transfer Processes in Nanosized Cerium Doped YAG

2008

Luminescence properties of cerium doped Y3Al5O12 (YAG) nanocrystals in form of nanopowders and nanoceramics have been studied. The comparative analysis of luminescence characteristics for nano- and single-crystals has been done. It was detected that an excitonic mechanism of the energy transfer from the host lattice to cerium ions does not work in nanopowders and nanoceramics. It was also shown that antisite-related and self-trapped exciton-related luminescence bands are suppressed strongly in nanopowders, and it can be excited only under certain circumstances. These bands practically disappeared in the nanoceramic samples. It was suggested that nanoparticle's surface, which is an efficient…

Multiphoton annihilation of monopolium

2017

We show that due to the large coupling constant of the monopole-photon interaction the annihilation of monopole-antimonopole and monopolium into many photons must be considered experimentally. For monopole-antimonopole annihilation and lightly bound monopolium, even in the less favorable scenario, multi-photon events (four and more photons in the final state) are dominant, while for strongly bound monopolium, although two photon events are important, four and six photon events are also sizable.

Time-resolved luminescence of CsITl crystals excited by pulsed electron beam

1997

Abstract Results of the time-resolved measurements of CsITl crystal luminescence under electron pulse excitation at room temperature are reported. The rise and decay times of both 400 and 500 nm emission bands have been measured. The results obtained show that the main mechanism of the luminescence excitation is hole recombination luminescence which is due to self-trapped hole migration toward Tl 0 centres. Stimulation spectra of photostimulated luminescence of CsITl are also analyzed.

Time-resolved spectroscopy of ZnWO4

2001

The luminescence spectra of ZnWO 4 excited by a pulsed electron beam, pulsed nitrogen laser and X-ray are studied. The luminescence decay kinetics are compared with transient absorption relaxation kinetics. Broad band transient absorption spectra are observed and it is shown that the slow decay component (∼14 μs at RT) of the transient absorption matches well with the luminescence decay therefore this absorption is due to the excited state absorption of the luminescence center.

Induced optical absorption and ITS relaxation in LiNbO3

1999

Abstract Electron pulse induced absorption spectra and their decay kinetics have been investigated in LiNbO3 crystals with various Li/Nb ratios rasnging from congruent to stoichiometric composition. It is shown that the absorption spectra, the optical density and the decay kinetics depend on the Li/Nb ratio. The rising front of the induced absorption is too fast to be resolved. The room temperature decay, characterized by the half-lifetime Δt, is faster in the stoichiometric crystal (∼ 750 ns) than in the congrruent crystal (∼ 3.5 μs).

Rayleigh scattering of Mössbauer radiation on a myoglobin single crystal

1992

The RSMR technique was used to determine the fraction of radiation which is scattered elastically and inelastically, respectively, into Bragg reflections of a metmyoglobin single crystal. From this measurement 〈x2 1c〉=0.027±0.008 A2 has been determined which is due to long range correlated motions in analogy to acoustic and optic modes in solids.

Direct photon production at low transverse momentum in proton-proton collisions at √s = 2.76 and 8 TeV

2019

Measurements of inclusive and direct photon production at midrapidity in pp collisions at √s=2.76 and 8 TeV are presented by the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The results are reported in transverse momentum ranges of 0.47 GeV/c is at least one σ above unity and consistent with expectations from next-to-leading order pQCD calculations. peerReviewed

The laser and optical system for the RIBF-PALIS experiment

2017

Abstract This paper describes the laser and optical system for the Parasitic radioactive isotope (RI) beam production by Laser Ion-Source (PALIS) in the RIKEN fragment separator facility. This system requires an optical path length of 70 m for transporting the laser beam from the laser light source to the place for resonance ionization. To accomplish this, we designed and implemented a simple optical system consisting of several mirrors equipped with compact stepping motor actuators, lenses, beam spot screens and network cameras. The system enables multi-step laser resonance ionization in the gas cell and gas jet via overlap with a diameter of a few millimeters, between the laser photons an…

Surface-Impedance Formulation for Hollow-Core Waveguides Based on Subwavelength Gratings

2022

A rigorous Surface Impedance (SI) formulation for planar waveguides is presented. This modal technique splits the modal analysis of the waveguide in two steps. First, we obtain the modes characteristic equations as a function of the SI and, second, we need to obtain the surface impedance values using either analytical or numerical methods. We validate the technique by comparison with well-known analytical cases: the parallel-plate waveguide with losses and the dielectric slab waveguide. Then, we analyze an optical hollow-core waveguide de ned by two high-contrast subwavelength gratings validating our results by comparison with reported values. Finally, we show the potential of our formulati…
