Comparing the Climatic and Landscape Risk Factors for Lyme Disease Cases in the Upper Midwest and Northeast United States

2020

Lyme disease, recognized as one of the most important vector-borne diseases worldwide, has been increasing in incidence and spatial extend in United States. In the Northeast and Upper Midwest, Lyme disease is transmitted by Ixodes scapularis. Currently, many studies have been conducted to identify factors influencing Lyme disease risk in the Northeast, however, relatively few studies focused on the Upper Midwest. In this study, we explored and compared the climatic and landscape factors that shape the spatial patterns of human Lyme cases in these two regions, using the generalized linear mixed models. Our results showed that climatic variables generally had opposite correlations with Lyme d…

Latvijas virszemes un notekūdeņos izplatītāko farmaceitiski aktīvo vielu ekotoksikoloģiskā ietekme uz vienšūnas zaļaļģēm Desmodesmus subspicatus

2019

Conservative Management of Atypical Endometrial Hyperplasia and Early Endometrial Cancer in Childbearing Age Women.

2022

Total hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy is the standard treatment for atypical endometrial hyperplasia and early-stage endometrial cancer. However, the recommended surgical treatment precludes future pregnancy when these conditions are diagnosed in women in their fertile age. In these patients, fertility-sparing treatment may be feasible if the desire for childbearing is consistent and specific conditions are present. This review summarizes the available evidence on fertility-sparing management for atypical endometrial hyperplasia and early-stage endometrial cancer. Historically, oral progestins have been the mainstay of conservative management for atypical endometrial hyperplasia and …

3PC-030 Physical, chemical and microbiological stability of sirolimus 0.4% in topical formulations

2019

Background Facial angiofibromas in tuberous sclerosis are an aesthetic problem within the clinical context of the disease. There are currently few stability studies that allow selecting the best topical sirolimus therapy. Purpose To improve the formulation of sirolimus 0.4% for the treatment of facial angiofibromas in tuberous sclerosis and to determine the period of validity (physical, chemical and microbiological stability) of the proposed formulations. Material and methods Three formulations of sirolimus 0.4% were prepared (each in duplicate, A and B). Facilities and equipment: biological safety cabinet with individual protection equipment for the manipulator. Conditions: aluminum tubes,…

Diversidad de mosquitos (Diptera: Culicidae) de Jarabacoa, República Dominicana

2019

Embryonic integument and "molts" in Manduca sexta (Insecta, Lepidoptera).

2002

In Manduca sexta the germ band is formed 12 h post-oviposition (p.o.) (=10% development completed) and is located above the yolk at the egg surface. The cells show a polar organization. They are engaged in the uptake and degradation of yolk globules, pinched off from the yolk cells. This process can be observed in the integumental cells during the first growth phase of the embryo that lasts until “katatrepsis,” an embryonic movement that takes place at 40% development completed. At 37% development completed, the ectoderm deposits a thin membrane at its apical surface, the first embryonic membrane, which detaches immediately before katatrepsis. The second period of embryonic growth—from kata…
