On the repeatability of the EMI for the monitoring of bonded joints

We study the feasibility and the repeatability of the electromechanical impedance (EMI) method for the health monitoring of lightweight bonded joints. The EMI technique exploits the coupling between the displacement field and the potential field of a piezoelectric material, by attaching or embedding a piezoelectric transducer to the structure to be monitored. The sensor is excited by an external voltage and the electrical admittance which is the ratio between the electric current and the applied voltage is measured as it depends on the mechanical coupling between the transducer and the host structure. Residual strain effects on the two-dimensional electron gas concentration of AlGaN/GaN heterostructures

Ga-face AlGaN/GaN heterostructures with different sheet carrier concentrations have been studied by photoluminescence and Raman spectroscopy. Compared to bulk GaN, an energy shift of the excitonic emission lines towards higher energies was observed, indicating the presence of residual compressive strain in the GaN layer. This strain was confirmed by the shift of the E2 Raman line, from which biaxial compressive stresses ranging between 0.34 and 1.7 GPa were deduced. The spontaneous and piezoelectric polarizations for each layer of the heterostructures have been also calculated. Sensitization of nanocrystalline TiO2 with 3,4,9,10-perylene tetracarboxylic acid

Optical properties of 3,4,9,10-perylene tetracarboxylic acid (PTCA) in the presence of nanocrystalline TiO2 (nominal diameter 15 nm) have been investigated in ethanol solution and in the solid state by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy and steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence. Experimental results show that, in ethanol, the presence of TiO2 nanoparticles causes significant changes in the typical absorption and fluorescence bands of PTCA and in the fluorescence relaxation time. Similar effects are also detected in solid samples, obtained by electrospray deposition technique. Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt kāda ir saistība starp pašcieņu un emocionālo empātiju pieaugušajiem. Pētījumā piedalījās 54 respondenti, vecumā no 18 līdz 61 gadam (M=33,63, SD=10,23), no tiem 49 bija sievietes un 5 vīrieši. Datu ievākšanai tika izmantotas divas aptaujas – Rozenberga pašcieņas aptauja (Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Rosenberg, 1965; aptauju Latvijā adaptējusi A.Miltuze, 1996) un Emocionālās empātijas aptauja (The Questionnaire Measure of Emotional Empathy, Mehrabian & Epstein, 1972; aptauju Latvijā adaptējusi J.Ļubenko, 2005). [Abstract] The Podiatric Health Questionnaire (PHQ) is a foot health psicometric tool consisting of six items for measuring foot health status. Currently, PHQ has been adapted into Spanish. Thus, this research focused on develop the Persian translation and adaptation of the PHQ.
