Avance para un "corpus" de inscripciones árabes valencianas
1984
EL TIEMPO TRANSCURRIDO DESDE LA APARICION DE LAS "INSCRIPTIONS ARABES D'ESPAGNE" DE LEVI-PROVENCAL, JUSTIFICA LA ACTUALIZACION DEL MISMO. ESTA TAREA, LLEVADA A CABO EN OTRAS ZONAS, ES NECESARIO EFECTUARLA EN EL AMBITO DEL PAIS VALENCIANO. AQUI SE PRESENTA EL PRIMER INVENTARIO DE TODAS LAS PIEZAS CONOCIDAS, PUBLICADAS O NO, CUYO MATERIAL ESCRITUARIO SEA PIEDRA, METAL O YESO, DESECHANDO LAS REALIZADAS EN CERAMICA, MADERA O MONEDAS. (A)
New bronchodilators selected by molecular topology.
1998
Molecular topology has been applied to find new lead compounds with bronchodilator activity. Among the selected compounds stands out 3-(1H-tetrazol-5yl)-9H-thioxanthene-9 -one-10,10-dioxide, anthrarobin, 9-oxo-9H-thioxantene-3-carboxylic-10,10-dioxide acid, acenocoumarol and griseofulvin, with a percentage of relaxation, at 0.1 mM, of 91, 92, 85, 69, and 74%, respectively. Theophylline shows a correspondent value of 77% (Emax = 100% at 1 mM).
Binding of 11-cis retinaldehyde to the partially purified cellular retinaldehyde binding protein from bovine retinal pigment epithelium.
1987
11-cis retinaldehyde binding analysis was performed on a bovine retinal pigment epithelium preparation of cellular retinaldehyde binding protein (CRALBP), whose purity degree was estimated as 75%. Equilibrium binding studies were carried out measuring the replacement of tritium-labeled with unlabeled 11-cis retinaldehyde at 25 degrees C. Analysis of the experimental data both by a direct curve-fitting procedure utilizing a non linear least square regression analysis and by a conventional Scatchard plot revealed a single non-interacting binding site with an apparent equilibrium constant of 0.9 X 10(-7) M. A binding stoichiometry of approximately 1 mol of 11-cis retinaldehyde/mol of binding p…
The emergence of drug resistance to targeted cancer therapies: Clinical evidence.
2019
For many decades classical anti-tumor therapies included chemotherapy, radiation and surgery; however, in the last two decades, following the identification of the genomic drivers and main hallmarks of cancer, the introduction of therapies that target specific tumor-promoting oncogenic or non-oncogenic pathways, has revolutionized cancer therapeutics. Despite the significant progress in cancer therapy, clinical oncologists are often facing the primary impediment of anticancer drug resistance, as many cancer patients display either intrinsic chemoresistance from the very beginning of the therapy or after initial responses and upon repeated drug treatment cycles, acquired drug resistance deve…
Isolation of Cholinergic Synaptic Vesicles from the Myenteric Plexus of Guinea-Pig Small Intestine
1980
The acetylcholine-rich myenteric plexus-longitudinal muscle preparation of the guinea-pig small intestine has been subjected to subcellular fractionation using modifications of both classical methods and that originally devised for bulk isolation of cholinergic synaptic vesicles from the electromotor nerve terminals of Torpedo marmorata by means of density gradient centrifugation in a zonal rotor. The latter method gave a vesicle fraction with the highest acetylcholine content so far recorded for a mammalian particulate fraction, 30.9 +/- S.E.M. 1.8 (5) nmol of acetylcholine . mg of protein-1. Electron-microscopical examination showed that it consisted of a homogeneous preparation of vesicl…
Indicaxanthin inhibits NADPH oxidase (NOX)-1 activation and NF-κB-dependent release of inflammatory mediators and prevents the increase of epithelial…
2014
Dietary redox-active/antioxidant phytochemicals may help control or mitigate the inflammatory response in chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). In the present study, the anti-inflammatory activity of indicaxanthin (Ind), a pigment from the edible fruit of cactus pear (Opuntia ficus-indica, L.), was shown in an IBD model consisting of a human intestinal epithelial cell line (Caco-2 cells) stimulated by IL-1β, a cytokine known to play a major role in the initiation and amplification of inflammatory activity in IBD. The exposure of Caco-2 cells to IL-1β brought about the activation of NADPH oxidase (NOX-1) and the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) to activate intracellular signal…
Strain differences in the ratio of synaptic body types in photoreceptors of the rat retina.
1993
In the retinal outer plexiform layer of seven different rat strains, synaptic bodies (SB) were counted and, according to their morphology, characterized as synaptic ribbons (SR), synaptic spheres (SS) or intermediate structures. It was found that absolute SB numbers showed relatively small variations while SR/SS ratios differed considerably between the strains investigated. These results are discussed with respect to retinal pigmentation and to formation and degradation, respectively, of synaptic ribbons.
