A Case Report of Adult Pineoblastoma Occurring in a Pregnant Woman.

Background/aim Pineoblastoma of the adult age is an uncommon tumor with only 200 cases reported. A standardized approach for an optimal adjuvant strategy is currently lacking. The case presented herein also deals with the issue of central nervous system tumors in pregnancy. Case report A 21-year-old pregnant woman presented with massive hydrocephalus due to a mass in the pineal region detected with MRI. After positioning an urgent ventricular derivation, a cesarean section was performed. During a third ventriculocisternostomy, a biopsy revealed a pineoblastoma. Measurements of the volume and density of intracerebral tumors by CT following therapy.

For the interpretation of curative measures in patients with cerebral tumors CT is of increasing importance. The therapeutic effects can be demonstrated by close follow-up studies without any of the disadvantage of invasive neuroradiological methods. Our investigations of 125 patients with cerebral tumors are based on volume and density determinations. The CT studies of removed or inoperable tumors followed by radiation and/or cytostatic therapy prove that the best results follow a combination of both. The diagnostic value of CT for radiotherapy of cerebral tumors

The paper deals with CT followup studies on 73 patients with cerebral tumors who received radiotherapy. The value of CT for the indication of radiotherapy, for followup therapy and for the demonstration of therapeutic success are discussed. Since the cerebral tumors become visualized by means of CT in their entire extent and can be differentiated from perifocal edema, the question arises whether radiotherapy should consist of higher doses in the future. Pleomorphic pineocytoma with extensive neuronal differentiation: report of two cases

Two pineal parenchymal tumors are presented, arising in a 54-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman; respectively. They showed isomorphic, cellular areas of small cells, often with characteristic pineocytomatous rosettes, and of medium-sized cells, as well as less cellular regions with highly pleomorphic, often ganglioid large cells. Immunohistochemistry disclosed extensive neuronal differentiation.
