Utilization of muddy detritus as organic matter source by the fan mussel Pinna nobilis.

The knowledge of the feeding habits in marine species is fundamental to better understand their relationship with the environment. Although phytoplankton has been traditionally reported as the main food source consumed by the Mediterranean fan mussel Pinna nobilis, recent studies have revealed that detritus represents an important food source for this species. We analysed the degree of acceptance of muddy detritus and the utilisation of its organic matter (OM) by P. nobilis on a group of 21 individuals (30.3-59.7 cm of total shell height (Ht)). Deciphering the molecular pictures of the multi-component and non-periodic organic-inorganic interlayer is a grand technical challenge. Here we show that the atomic arrangement of hybrid surface ligands on metal nanoparticles can be precisely quantified through comprehensive characterization of a novel gold cluster, Au 44 ( i Pr 2 -bimy) 9 (PA) 6 Br 8 , which features three types of ligands, namely, carbene (1,3-diisopropylbenzimidazolin-2-ylidene, i Pr 2 -bimy), alkynyl (phenylacetylide, PA), and halide (Br), respectively. Accelerated transport and growth with symmetrized dynamics

In this paper we consider a model of accelerated dynamics with the rules modified from those of the recently proposed [Dong et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 109, 130602 (2012)] accelerated exclusion process (AEP) such that particle-vacancy symmetry is restored to facilitate a mapping to a solid-on-solid growth model in $1+1$ dimensions. In addition to kicking a particle ahead of the moving particle, as in the AEP, in our model another particle from behind is drawn, provided it is within the ``distance of interaction'' denoted by ${\ensuremath{\ell}}_{\mathrm{max}}$. Shoot accumulation of several trace elements in native plant species from contaminated soils in the Peruvian Andes

Abstract Metal mining gives access to very important resources but contributes to severe and diverse environmental problems. Until recently, little has been known about the remediation of mining sites in Latin America using metallophytes. The present study was designed to identify and characterize spontaneously growing heavy metal tolerant plant species in the area around the polymetallic Carolina mine in Hualgayoc (Cajamarca, Peru). The aim was to find species that are potentially useful for phytoremediation. Plants and soils were sampled and analysed for concentrations of As, Fe, Mn, Pb, Zn and Ti. Unraveling the Role of the Rh–ZrO2 Interface in the Water–Gas-Shift Reaction via a First-Principles Microkinetic Study

The industrially important water–gas-shift (WGS) reaction is a complex network of competing elementary reactions in which the catalyst is a multicomponent system consisting of distinct domains. Herein, we have combined density functional theory calculations with microkinetic modeling to explore the active phase, kinetics, and reaction mechanism of the WGS over the Rh–ZrO2 interface. We have explicitly considered the support and metal and their interface and find that the Rh–ZrO2 interface is far more active toward WGS than Rh(111) facets, which are susceptible to CO poisoning. Gobio Genus Species Integrated Management System – Târnava Rivers Study Case (Transylvania, Romania)

Abstract The lotic habitats quality indicative congeners species Gobio gobio, Gobio kessleri and Gobio albipinnatus populations’ dynamic in time (2004-2019) and space revealed a decreasing trend in these rivers ecological status. The ADONIS:CE tool has been used to build a backing management system model, based on these indicative fish species habitat needs, indicators for favourable conservation status, pressures and threats. This management system implementation in the field will favour the amelioration of lotic habitats and the ecological status recovering of two of the local fish species of conservative interest (G. kessleri and G. albipinnatus).

Tämä kandidaatintutkielma on kirjallisuuskatsaus. Tutkielman tutkimuskysymys on, tarjoaako abstrakti luokka paremman uudelleenkäytettävyyden kuin rajapinta. Tutkielmassa noudatettiin EBSE-menetelmää. Tutkielmassa havaitaan, että kuluja, joita syntyy ohjelmistokehityksessä voidaan vähentää uudelleenkäyttämällä ohjelmakoodia. Tutkielmassa saatiin tulokseksi, että uudelleenkäytettävyyttä edistävät kapselointi, matala kytkösaste, korkea koheesio ja perintä. Uudelleenkäytettävyyttä haittaa heikko ymmärrettävyys.
