Changes of morphogenic competence in mature Pinus sylvestris L. buds in vitro.

The effects of season and cold storage on morphogenic competence in mature Pinus sylvestris buds were investigated. Peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase activity were measured as markers of oxidative metabolism. No growth in vitro was observed on explants detached from the end of January until the beginning of March. Brachioblasts, each with a couple of needles, formed on 11 % of the buds without macrostrobili that were detached in early April and introduced immediately into culture. Of the explants detached in late July, 15 % formed shoots with brachioblasts and needles. Abstract The effect of Pediococcus acidilactici and Lactobacillus sakei strains on biogenic amines (BAs) formation during submerged and solid state fermentation of Lupinus luteus and Lupinus angustifolius was analysed. The composition of lupin seeds was evaluated and the influence of fermentation on free amino acid (FAA) profile was investigated. The highest protein and carbohydrate contents were found in L. luteus var. ‘Vilciai’, the highest carbohydrate contents – in L. angustifolius hybrid lines No. 1701 and No. 1800, and fat – in L. angustifolius hybrid lines No. 1700, No. 1703 and No. 1734. Bakalaura darbs „Parastās priedes Pinus sylvestris gadskārtu platumu un blīvumu kā klimata indikatoru salīdzinājums” izstrādāts Latvijas Universitātes Ekoloģijas un Botānikas katedrā laika posmā no 2014. gada oktobra līdz 2015. gada maijam. Pētījumā apskatīts parastās priedes gadskārtas blīvums un gadskārtas platums kā klimatisko apstākļu raksturojoši rādītāji. Gadskārtas platuma un blīvuma dati iegūti ar Rinntech Lignostation Wood Surface Scanner. Gadskārtas platums ar gadskārtas blīvumu neuzrādīja būtisku saistību. Purified triacylglycerols (TAG) fromPinus koraiensis andP. pinaster seed oils, which are interesting and commercially available sources of Δ5-olefinic acids (i.e.,cis-5,cis-9,cis-12 18:3 andcis-5,cis-11,cis-14 20:3 acids) were fractionated by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography, and each fraction was examined by capillary gas-liquid chromatography for its fatty acid composition. A structure could be assigned to more than 92% of TAG from both oils. In both instances, ca. 48% of the TAG were shown to contain at least one δ5-olefinic acid. In the great majority of TAG, our data showed that there is only one molecule of δ5-olefinic acid per molecule of TAG. This is compatible …

Latvijas meži atrodas pārejas zonā jeb ekotonā starp nemorālo un boreālo zonu - boreonemorālajā starpzonā (Sjörs, 1963; Ozenda, 1994, Krauklis un Zariņa, 2002), un pēdējās desmitgadēs Latvijā arvien biežāk tiek novērots, ka mežos pazeminās boreālo mežu koku sugu un pieaug nemorālo mežu koku sugu īpatsvars (Laiviņš, 1998). Un būtiski būtu noskaidrot, kā edafiskie faktori ietekmē ozolu paaugas attīstībā priežu mežos. Maģistra darba mērķis ir noskaidrot augsnes faktora lomu ozolu paaugas attīstībā priežu mežos Pierīgā. Bakalaura darbā ”Mežsaimniecības atkritumprodukta- skuju ekstraktvielas un to izmantošanas potenciāls bioekonomikā” ietvaros tika apstrādāti 30 paraugi no parasto priežu (Pinus sylvestris L.) un parasto egļu ((Picea abies) skujām, ekstrahējot tos Soksletā dažādos šķīdinātājos, lai iegūtu ekstraktus, kurus turpmāk izmantoja bakalaura darba izstrādē. Darba teorētiskajā daļā tika apkopota zinātniska literatūra par priežu un egļu skujām un ķīmisko sastāvu, tā izmantošanas iespējām Latvijas tirgū un izmantošanu potenciālu bioekonomikas attīstībai. Esta tesis está enfocada a la aplicación de la embriogénesis somática para la conservación y mejora de Quercus ilex L., Pinus pinaster Aiton y Pinus pinea L., especies forestales representativas de los bosques de la Península Ibérica. Age and spatial structure of natural Pinus sylvestris stands in Latvia

Abstract The age and spatial structure of six natural old growth Pinus sylvestris stands in Latvia were investigated, to attempt to identify retrospectively the past features of development. In each stand, one or two plots of size 200–900 m2 were established. Tree locations were mapped, stem diameter was measured, and tree age was determined from cores or by counting branch whorls. Tree distribution was assessed by Ripley's K function. A clumped spatial pattern was shown for P. sylvestris younger than 100 years. Abstract One-step absolute solvent-free acid-catalyzed mechanical depolymerization of pine sawdust (PSD) and commercially available α-cellulose to water-soluble sugars was carried out using ball milling. For comparison purposes, the commonly reported “solvent-free” mechanocatalytic depolymerization of lignocellulose method, which normally involves three steps (acid impregnation in solvent, vacuum drying, and mechanical depolymerization of lignocellulose), was performed. The work describes anatomical analysis of the wood from a relict Pinus sylvestris L. performed to determine its characteristics. Transverse ca. 20 μm thick sections were prepared with a core-microtome and observed in bright-field microscopy. Observations of tangential sections were performed in epi-fluorescence. The xylem of the relict pine showed many narrow growth rings. The occurrence of i.a. discontinuous tree rings, light rings and intraannual density fluctuations was stated.
