Brain tissue is a really complex system composed of different cell types that change in shape and size. A single neuron itself has a cell body, dendrites and an axon. About 80% of cerebral tissue consists of water molecules that are confined (intra and extra cellular) in its disordered biologic networks. Using neutron scattering on IN13 we are able to explore hydrogens (H) dynamics in time scale at about 40 ps and in size scale at about 1 Å. Such characteristic make it suitable to investigate brain tissue heterogeneity exploiting hydrogens as a probe since major constituent of macromolecules and water. Non-homogeneous Dirichlet problems with concave-convex reaction

The variational methods are adopted for establishing the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions for a Dirichlet problem driven by a non-homogeneous differential operator of p-Laplacian type. A large class of nonlinear terms is considered, covering the concave-convex case. In particular, two positive solutions to the problem are obtained under a (p -1)-superlinear growth at infinity, provided that a behaviour less than (p -1)-linear of the nonlinear term in a suitable set is requested.

Decyzją konferencji jałtańskiej w 1945 r. wytyczono nowe granice państwa polskiego po II wojnie światowej oraz ustalono konieczność wysiedlenia Niemców z ziem przekazanych Polsce. Doprowadziło to do masowych przesiedleń ludności z dawnych terenów wschodnich II Rzeczypospolitej na tzw. odzyskane ziemie zachodnie, dla której proces „wrastania” w nową przestrzeń był wyjątkowo traumatyczny. Millaisista lähtökohdista tulevat koulumenestyjät ja miten he sijoittuvat työelämään? Mikä merkitys hyvällä koulumenestyksellä on huippuoppilaiden elämässä ollut? Tämän väitöskirjatutkimuksen tarkoituksena on etsiä vastauksia edellä mainittuihin kysymyksiin. Tutkimuksessa seurataan laudaturylioppilaiden urapolkuja tilastojen ja elämäkertojen avulla. Tutkimuksen ensimmäisessä osiossa kerrotaan, millaisille koulutus- ja työurille laudaturin yleisarvosanan kirjoittaneet ylioppilaat ovat suuntautuneet lukion jälkeen. Toisessa osiossa koulumenestyjien elämänvaiheita seurataan kuuden laudaturin ylioppilaiden kirjoittamien tarinoiden avulla. Kertomukset tuovat esiin sen, kuinka yhdenmukaisten tila…
