Synchronizing eye tracking and optical motion capture : How to bring them together

Both eye tracking and motion capture technologies are nowadays frequently used in human sciences, although both technologies are usually used separately. However, measuring both eye and body movements simultaneously would offer great potential for investigating cross- modal interaction in human (e.g. music and language-related) behavior. Application of Model Predictive Control in Discrete Displacement Cylinders to Drive a Knuckle Boom Crane

In this paper, two Discrete Displacement Cylinders (DDCs) are used to drive the boom of a knuckle boom crane. DDCs operate by connecting one of several available pressure levels to each chamber in order to produce different forces. A trade-off exists with such systems, between the accuracy of tracking and energy dissipation due to switching. A popular way to approach this problem is a Force Shifting Algorithm (FSA). However, in this paper, the trade-off is managed by use of a Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm. Dynamic and static computer-guided surgery using the double-factor technique for completely edentulous patients: A dental technique.

A novel computer-assisted surgery (CAS) technique that merges dynamic and static CAS approaches to treat completely edentulous patients with dental implants is described. Radiographic and surgical stents are designed with specific fiducial markers that are recognized by the static and dynamic CAS software program. During the surgical procedure, implants are placed following the static surgical guide and the indications from the dynamic navigation system. This technique combines the advantages of static and dynamic CAS approaches to allow accurate and predictable minimally invasive implant placement.

Massive Internet of Things (mIoT) is an important use case of 5G. The main challenge for mIoT is the huge amount of uplink traffic as it dramatically overloads the radio access network (RAN). To mitigate this shortcoming, a new RAN technology has been suggested, where small cells are used for interconnecting different devices to the network. The use of small cells will alleviate congestion at the RAN, reduce the end-to-end (E2E) delay, and increase the link capacity for communications. Feature extraction and correlation for time-to-impact segmentation using log-polar images

In this article we present a technique that allows high-speed movement analysis using the accurate displacement measurement given by the feature extraction and correlation method. Specially, we demonstrate that it is possible to use the time to impact computation for object segmentation. This segmentation allows the detection of objects at different distances.
