Coordination-Induced Spin-State Switching with Nickel Chlorin and Nickel Isobacteriochlorin
2015
We present the first coordination-induced spin-state switching with nickel chlorin and nickel isobacteriochlorin. The spin-state switching was monitored by UV-vis spectroscopy and NMR titration experiments. The association constants (K1 and K2) and thermodynamic parameters (ΔH and ΔS) of the coordination of pyridine were determined. The first X-ray analyses of a paramagnetic nickel chlorin and a nickel isobacteriochlorin provide further information about the structure of the octahedral complexes. Nickel chlorin and even more pronounced nickel isobacteriochlorin exhibit stronger coordination of axial ligands compared to the corresponding nickel porphyrin and thus provide the basis for more e…
The factorization method for electrical impedance tomography data from a new planar device.
2006
We present numerical results for two reconstruction methods for a new planar electrical impedance tomography device. This prototype allows noninvasive medical imaging techniques if only one side of a patient is accessible for electric measurements. The two reconstruction methods have different properties: one is a linearization-type method that allows quantitative reconstructions; the other one, that is, the factorization method, is a qualitative one, and is designed to detect anomalies within the body.
Flash infrared annealing as a cost-effective and low environmental impact processing method for planar perovskite solar cells
2019
Abstract For successful commercialization of perovskite solar cells, straightforward solutions in terms of environmental impact and economic feasibility are still required. Flash Infrared Annealing (FIRA) is a rapid method to fabricate perovskite solar cells with efficiencies >18% on simple, planar architecture, which allows a film synthesis in only 1.2 s, faster than the previous report based in a meso architecture and all of them without the usage of antisolvent. In this work, through a comparative study with the common lab-scale method, the so-called antisolvent (AS), the main photovoltaic parameters and working mechanisms obtained from impedance spectroscopy (IS) measurements show simil…
Advanced Protocol for Three-Dimensional Transesophageal Echocardiography Guidance Implementing Real-Time Multiplanar Reconstruction for Transcatheter…
2019
Transcatheter direct annuloplasty has been introduced as a novel interventional treatment option for severe mitral valve regurgitation. Until now, only one direct annuloplasty device (Edwards Cardioband) has been commercially available, being implanted in more than 250 patients worldwide. Yet this procedure poses greater challenges regarding optimal fluoroscopic and echocardiographic guidance compared with edge-to-edge repair: correct localization and orientation of the anchors upon penetration into the fibrous mitral annulus tissue and the basal left ventricular myocardium are preconditions for an optimal result and essential to avoid damage of the neighboring structures (atrioventricular …
Feasibility of a MPR-based 3DTEE guidance protocol for transcatheter direct mitral valve annuloplasty.
2020
Objectives Several interventional approaches have been established for the treatment of severe mitral regurgitation (MR) in patients at elevated risk for surgery. Direct annuloplasty is a relatively novel option in transcatheter mitral valve repair dedicated to reverse pathology in specific subsets of MR. With regard to echocardiographic guidance, this procedure presents with higher efforts in comparison with edge-to-edge therapy to enable safe and exact positioning of the device's anchors; evidence on optimal peri-interventional imaging is sparse. We tested a specific 3D-echo-guidance protocol implementing single-beat multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) and evaluated its feasibility. Methods …
Diffusion-weighted MRI of cholesteatomas of the petrous bone
2002
Purpose To investigate if primary cholesteatomas of the petrous bone show high signal in diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). Materials and methods In this blinded study, we compared 15 patients with clinically certain cases and later surgically proven cholesteatomas vs. 12 patients with clinically acute otitis of the middle ear and 20 volunteers without petrous bone disease. Two blinded readers without knowledge of the clinical data decided in consensus agreement whether there was a pathologic signal increase in the petrous bone in an anisotropic single-shot echo-planar imaging (EPI) DWI sequence, an artifact, or no signal increase. Results Thirteen of 15 patients with cholesteatomas showed b…

Comparison of 99mTc-Labeled Colloid SPECT/CT and Planar Lymphoscintigraphy in Sentinel Lymph Node Detection in Patients with Melanoma: A Meta-Analysis
2020
We compared the detection rate (DR) for sentinel lymph nodes (SLNS), the number of SLNs and the subjects with additional SLNs of single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT/CT) and planar lymphoscintigraphy (PL) in patients with melanoma. Furthermore, we evaluated the impact of SPECT/CT on surgical plans. Articles containing head-to-head comparisons between SPECT/CT and PL were searched in Pubmed/MEDLINE and Scopus. The literature search was updated until December 31st, 2019. DR was calculated on a per-patient-based analysis; the studies were pooled by their odds ratios (ORs) with a random effects model to assess the significance of difference (p < 0.05). The number of additional S…
Multi-scale modelling of heterogeneous shell structures
2011
International audience; This paper reviews multi-scale computational homogenisation frameworks for the non-linear behaviour of heterogeneous thin planar shells. Based on a review of some of the currently available methods, a computational homogenisation scheme for shells is applied on to representative volume elements for plain weave composites. The effect of flexural loading on the potential failure modes of such materials is analysed, focusing on the reinforcement-matrix delamination mechanism. The attention is next shifted toward failure localisation in masonry unit cells. Subsequently, a recently developed computational FE2 solution scheme accounting for damage localisation at structura…
