The Sliced COO Format for Sparse Matrix-Vector Multiplication on CUDA-enabled GPUs
2012
Abstract Existing formats for Sparse Matrix-Vector Multiplication (SpMV) on the GPU are outperforming their corresponding implementations on multi-core CPUs. In this paper, we present a new format called Sliced COO (SCOO) and an effcient CUDA implementation to perform SpMV on the GPU. While previous work shows experiments on small to medium-sized sparse matrices, we perform evaluations on large sparse matrices. We compared SCOO performance to existing formats of the NVIDIA Cusp library. Our resutls on a Fermi GPU show that SCOO outperforms the COO and CSR format for all tested matrices and the HYB format for all tested unstructured matrices. Furthermore, comparison to a Sandy-Bridge CPU sho…

Performance evaluation of sum-of-cisoids Rice/Rayleigh fading channel simulators with respect to the bit error probability
2014
Sum-of-cisoids (SOC) processes provide an important framework for the modeling and simulation of multipath fading channels. In this paper, we analyze the performance of SOC Rice/Rayleigh narrowband fading channel simulators with respect to the bit error probability (BEP) of quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) and differential phase shift keying (DPSK) systems with both coherent and noncoherent demodulation. For the BEP of coherent QPSK and DPSK, exact analytical expressions are derived, which provide insight into the influence of the number of propagation paths and the path gains on the system performance. It will be shown that at least 10 multipath components are required to guarantee tha…
Implementation and Deployment Evaluation of the DMAMAC Protocol for Wireless Sensor Actuator Networks
2016
Abstract The increased application of wireless technologies including Wireless Sensor Actuator Networks (WSAN) in industry has given rise to a plethora of protocol designs. These designs target metrics ranging from energy efficiency to real-time constraints. Protocol design typically starts with a requirements specification, and continues with analytic and model-based simulation analysis. State-of- the-art network simulators provide extensive physical environment emulation, but still have limitations due to model abstractions. Deployment testing on actual hardware is therefore vital in order to validate implementability and usability in the real environment. The contribution of this article…
Observations of high concentrations of I2and IO in coastal air supporting iodine-oxide driven coastal new particle formation
2010
[1] Theoretical studies have predicted that concentrations of gaseous I2 and IO of the order of 80–100 ppt and 40–50 ppt, respectively, are required in coastal air to account for photochemically-driven coastal new-particle formation events to occur. However, measurements reported to date (i.e., ∼20 ppt I2, ≤ 10 ppt IO) have not supported the required model predictions. Here, we present measurements of high concentrations of I2 and IO in N.E. Atlantic marine air on the west coast of Ireland. The maximum mixing ratios of daytime I2 and IO over the seaweed beds during low tide were 302 ppt and 35 ppt, respectively. The I2 distribution was rather inhomogeneous, even at the inter-tidal zone, but…
X-ray versus Ultraviolet Irradiation of Astrophysical Ice Analogs Leading to Formation of Complex Organic Molecules
2019
In astrochemistry, complex organic molecules (COMs) are defined as species with at least one C atom and six or more atoms in total. More than 70 COMs were detected toward various interstellar and c...
Conductes prosocials i responsabilitat social universitària: a la recerca d’un cercle virtuós?
2019
