The energy transition and climate neutrality are a short time scenario as climate concerns are rising fast. Small islands are natural microgrids in which the energy transition is subjected to economic and regulatory constraints and highly challenged by technical issues. Variable kinematics models for multilòayered smart plates

Families of layer-wise and equivalent single layer advanced finite elements for the geometrically nonlinear analysis of smart multilayered plates are formulated in a unified framework. The proposed modeling strategy reduces the multifield problems to an effective mechanical plate by the condensation of the electromechanical state into the plate kinematics, which is assumed as a variable order expansion along the plate thickness. Numerical results are presented to validate the proposed modeling approach and finite elements and to investigate their features.
Splines in convex sets under constraints of two‐sided inequality type in a hyperplane

The problem of minimization of a smoothing functional under inequality constraints is considered in a hyperplane. The conditions of the existence of a solution are obtained and some properties of this solution are investigated. It is proved that the solution is a spline. The paper concerns the experimental results performed on steel (S 235) zinc plated panels having 1500 x 1150 x 1.5 mm dimensions, linked to hinged steel frame. In order to the slenderness of plates, considerable displacements out-of-plane are evident at loads significantly lower of ultimate load. Considering the steel constitutive curves obtained from tensile tests, the comparison of experimental and numerical (ADINA) results is proposed. The results show the excellent seismic behaviour of the system having stable hysteresis loops.
