Immediate versus delayed facilitated percutaneous coronary intervention. A pilot study

The study was aimed to investigate the outcomes in patients initially successfully treated pharmacologically and immediate PCI <2 hours, and in patients initially successfully treated with pharmacological therapy and delayed PCI (12-72 hours). All patients had to have successful reperfusion, to receive the combination of a standard abciximab infusion plus half dose rtPA. Similar results were observed in both groups. Delayed PCI group showed a favorable trend in restenosis and bleedings (ns) and a significant reduced angiographic evidence of thrombus formation in IRA. AbstractIn contrast with extensive documentation in patients treated with unfractionated heparin (UFH), the incidence of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) in medical patients receiving low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) is less well defined. In a prospective cohort study, the platelet count was monitored in 1754 consecutive patients referred to 17 medical centers and treated with LMWH for prophylaxis or treatment of thromboembolic disorders. We have determined the effect of delayed addition of G-CSF after chemotherapy on PBPC mobilization in a group of 30 patients with high risk breast cancer (HRBC) undergoing standard chemotherapy followed by high-dose chemotherapy (HDCT) and autologous SCT. Patients received FAC chemotherapy every 21 days followed by G-CSF at doses of 5 microg/kg/day starting on day +15 (groups 1 and 2) or +8 (group 3) after chemotherapy.
