This study explores the writings of Sylvia Plath Forum, a discussion forum in the Internet that was launched in 1998. Using Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis, Chaïm Perelman’s theory of argumentation, Kenneth Burke’s idea of identification as the basis of rhetoric, and René Girards’s theory of mimetic desire as its framework this study looks into the forum’s meaning-making processes and the ways the author Sylvia Plath (1932-1963) and her readers are represented on the forum. Pētījums Silvijas Plātas dzejoļu krājuma strukturālistiska analīze tapis ar nolūku analizēt Silvijas Plātas dzeju izmantojot Jūrija Lotmana strukturālo analīzes metodi un apsvērt dzejas sastāva, vienotības, ritma un pantmēra ziņā, kā arī atrast tēlāinus izteiksmes līdzekļus, noteikt to veidus un funkcijas dzejoļos. Pētījums atklāj, ka Lotmana metode ir piemērojama Silvijas Plātas dzejas analīzei un demonstrē kā atrastie tēlāinie izteiksmes līdzekļi tiek izmantoti saistībā ar nāves un bērna piedzimšanas tematiem.

Artikkelissa tarkastellaan itsemurhan ja lapsenmurhan kysymyksiä amerikkalaisen kirjailijan Sylvia Plathin (1932−1963) tuotannossa sekä kirjailijan elämään kohdistuvissa representaatioissa. Analysoin Plathille omistetun nettifoorumin Sylvia Plath Forum kirjoituksia sekä erityisesti runon ”Edge” tulkintoja Plath-tutkimuksessa. Teoreettisena lähtökohtana toimii René Girardin mimeettisen halun teoria. Plathin elämäntarinan kohdalla mimeettisen halun tematiikan tekee relevantiksi kolmiodraama, joka rakentui Plathin, hänen aviopuolisonsa kirjailija Ted Hughesin ja tämän rakastajattaren Assia Wevillin välille.
