High-statistics study of f0(1500) decay into π0π0

Abstract A partial-wave analysis of the reaction p p →π 0 π 0 π 0 has been performed using a high-quality high-statistics data set of 712 000 events. In addition to the f0(975) and f0(1300), the scalar resonance with mass m = (1500 ± 15) MeV and width Γ = (120 ± 25) MeV is necessary to describe the data.

Localization of MRX82: A new nonsyndromic X-linked mental retardation locus to Xq24-q25 in a Basque family

Clinical and molecular studies are reported on a Basque family (MRX82) with nonsyndromic X-linked mental retardation (XLMR) in five affected males. A total of 38 microsatellite markers were typed. The XLMR locus has been linked to DXS8067, DXS1001, DXS425, DXS7877, and DXS1183 with a maximum LOD score of 2.4. The haplotype studies and multipoint linkage analysis suggest a localization of the MRX82 locus to an interval of 7.6 Mb defined by markers DXS6805 and DXS7346, in Xq24 and Xq25, respectively. Amplitude analysis of the decayB±→π±π±π∓

We present a Dalitz-plot analysis of charmless B+- decays to the final state pi+- pi+- pi-+ using 210 fb^-1 of data recorded by the BABAR experiment at sqrt(s) = 10.58 GeV. We measure the branching fractions B(B+- -> pi+- pi+- pi-+) = (16.2 +- 1.2 +- 0.9) x 10^-6 and B(B+- -> rho^0(770) pi+-) = (8.8 +- 1.0 +- 0.6 +0.1-0.7) x 10^-6. Measurements of branching fractions for the quasi-two-body decays B+- -> rho^0(1450) pi+-, B+- -> f_0(980) pi+- and B+- -> f_2(1270) pi+- are also presented. We observe no charge asymmetries for the above modes, and there is no evidence for the decays B+- -> chic0 pi+-, B+- -> f_0(1370) pi+- and B+- -> sigma pi+-.

La enfermedad de Chagas, cuyo agente causal es Trypanosoma cruzi, constituye un grave problema de salud pública en toda Latinoamérica. La principal forma de transmisión es la vectorial, de la que son responsables hemípteros redúvidos de la subfamilia Triatominae adaptados a los hábitats doméstico y peridoméstico. Clinically significant 18 Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) from exon regions of Retinoblastoma gene (RB1) were analyzed to find out the structural variations in mRNAs. Online bioinformatic tools i.e., Vienna RNA, RNAfold were used for secondary structure analysis of mRNAs. Predicted minimum Free Energy Change (MFE) was calculated for mRNAs structures. It has been observed that the average of predicted MFE value from 13 nonsense mutations was higher (0.76 kcal/mol) in comparison to 5 missense mutations. Anthracene Fluorescence Quenching by a Tetrakis (Ketocarboxamide) Cavitand

Quenching of both fluorescence lifetime and fluorescence intensity of anthracene was investigated in the presence of a newly derived tetrakis (ketocarboxamide) cavitand at various concentrations. Time-correlated single photon counting method was applied for the lifetime measurements. A clear correlation between the fluorescence lifetime of anthracene as a function of cavitand concentration in dimethylformamide solution was observed. The bimolecular collisional quenching constant was derived from the decrease of lifetime. Mitochondrial DNA Portrait of Latvians: Towards the Understanding of the Genetic Structure of Baltic-Speaking Populations

Summary Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) variation was investigated in a sample of 299 Latvians, a Baltic-speaking population from Eastern Europe. Sequencing of the first hypervariable segment (HVS-I) in combination with analysis of informative coding region markers revealed that the vast majority of observed mtDNAs belong to haplogroups (hgs) common to most European populations. Analysis of the spatial distribution of mtDNA haplotypes found in Latvians, as well as in Baltic-speaking populations in general, revealed that they share haplotypes with all neighbouring populations irrespective of their linguistic affiliation. Radiative corrections in Dalitz decays of π0, η and η′ mesons

We briefly summarize current experimental and theoretical results on the two important processes of the low-energy hadron physics involving neutral pions: the Dalitz decay of π0 and the rare decay π0 → e+e−. As novel results we present the complete set of radiative corrections to the Dalitz decays η(′) → l+l−γ beyond the soft-photon approximation, i.e. over the whole range of the Dalitz plot and with no restrictions on the energy of a radiative photon. The corrections inevitably depend on the η(′) → γ*γ(*) transition form factors.

Sampling and repeatability in the evaluation of hepatitis C virus genetic variability.

Among the experimental techniques available to study the genetic variability of RNA virus populations, the most informative involve reverse transcription (RT), amplification, cloning and sequencing. The effects of several aspects of these techniques on the estimation of genetic variability in a virus population were analysed. Hepatitis C virus populations from four patients were examined. For each patient, ten series of data derived from independent PCR amplifications of a single RT reaction were obtained. Fast Algorithms for Pseudoarboricity

The densest subgraph problem, which asks for a subgraph with the maximum edges-to-vertices ratio d∗, is solvable in polynomial time. We discuss algorithms for this problem and the computation of a graph orientation with the lowest maximum indegree, which is equal to ⌈d∗⌉. This value also equals the pseudoarboricity of the graph. We show that it can be computed in O(|E| √ log log d∗) time, and that better estimates can be given for graph classes where d∗ satisfies certain asymptotic bounds.
