Abstract In Sophist 228a7–8 the reading of Plato’s manuscripts διαφορᾶς διαφϑοράν is defended on the basis of a reconsideration of the Galenic passages of De placitis Hippocratis et Platonis (V 2, p. 302, 18–19 and V 3, p. 310, 26 De Lacy) usually advanced in order to maintain that it is corrupt and is to be changed into in διαφϑορᾶς διαφοράν. The analysis of several other passages of the Platonic corpus concerning στάσις and νόσος, and the comparison with Plutarch’s De Stoicorum repugnantiis 1041b, which shows a textual history very similar to the considered passage of Plato’s Sophist, further support the reading in the manuscripts.

Greek tradition links the death of regent Pausanias of Sparta with ghosts. In this paper, we focus on the well-known episode that revolves around Pausanias himself and a Byzantine maiden and is transmitted by Aristodemus, Plutarch and Pausanias Periegetes. The multiplicity of versions demands a comparative analysis, which we carry out taking into account the three spaces where the narrative action takes place (civic, intimate and ritual spaces). Results indicate a concordance between Plutarch and Pausanias Periegetes, as well as a dissonance between them and Aristodemus. Si cerca di dimostrare che gli studiosi finora (seguendo Westphal) hanno attribuito troppe parti del trattatello ps.-plutarcheo "De musica" a Eraclide Pontico; a quest´ ultimo l´ ignoto autore ha attinto in realta´ solo quello che dice di aver letto nell´ iscrizione di Sicione. We try to show that up to now scholars (following Westphal) have attributed too many parts of the ps.-plutarcheo tract "De musica" to Eraclide Pontico; the unknown author drew from the latter only what he says he read in Sicyon's inscription.
