La necrópolis occidental de la Valencia romana

Ubicada en una pequeña elevación del terreno y junto a uno de los principales ejes viarios de la ciudad (calle Cavallers/Quart), prolongación del decumanus maximus, se localiza la necrópolis occidental de Valentia. Cronológicamente abarca desde mediados del siglo I a.C. hasta el siglo III-IV d.C. Hay que destacar que la práctica de la inhumación es anterior a la incineración y casi exclusiva, en contra de la tendencia predominante. Este hecho lo hemos puesto en relación con la raíz centro-itálica de los fundadores de Valentia y el mantenimiento de sus tradiciones de origen.

Radioprotection with natural products may be relevant to the mitigation of ionizing radiation-induced damage in mammalian systems; in this sense, propolis extracts have shown effects such as antioxidant, antitumoral, anti-inflammatory, and immunostimulant. We report for the first time a cytogenetic study to evaluate the radioprotective effect,in vitro, of propolis against radiation-induced chromosomal damage. Lymphocytes were cultured with increasing concentrations of ethanol extract of propolis (EEP), including 20, 40, 120, 250, 500, 750, 1000, and 2000 μg mL−1and then exposed to 2 Gyγ-rays. Bayesian methods and their implementations by means of sophisticated Monte Carlo techniques have become very popular in signal processing over the last years. Importance Sampling (IS) is a well-known Monte Carlo technique that approximates integrals involving a posterior distribution by means of weighted samples. In this work, we study the assignation of a single weighted sample which compresses the information contained in a population of weighted samples.
