Can Polishness be (Lexicographically) Defined?The author argues that the essence of Polishness (polskość) is found in the Polish language, that is, in the language system, as well as in texts written in Polish; hence, it should be possible to reproduce and define the very concept of Polishness. The paper deals with the problems of lexicographic description of Russian and Polish theolinguistic terminology. We describe theolinguistics as one of the subdisciplines of linguistics, which main focus is on the reflection of religion in language. Stance bundles in English-to-Polish Translation: a Corpus-Informed Study

In this paper, we make an attempt to improve the textual fit of English-to-Polish translation of a peculiar type of multi-word units known in corpus linguistic literature as lexical bundles (Biber et al. 1999). Inspired by a study conducted by Grabar and Lefer (2015), we used the English-Polish parallel corpus Paralela (Pęzik 2016) and the National Corpus of Polish (NKJP) to extract and explore the use — in terms of frequency distributions — of the Polish equivalents of selected English lexical bundles expressing attitudinal and epistemic stance. Analysis of the effects of magnetic field on the induced stress in drilled plates

Abstract A drilled plate of ferromagnetic material suitably coupled by coils of enameled copper wire fed by a DC power supply to 30 V is considered in this paper. It is analyzed with finite element and later experiments are performed to validate the obtained results. After polishing the plate, two strain gauges for measuring the deformation along the x axis and along the z axis are installed. The values of strain are 5 μm/m in z direction and −2 μm/m in x direction. The experimental–numerical comparison shows that the laboratory results are lower than numerical, while signs and orders of magnitude are the same. The objective of the article is an axiological analysis of the Silesian geographical names and the justification of its usefulness in school didactics. Educating pupils by means of proper names integrates linguistic, cultural, historical and political contents. Discussions on names and their justification teach tolerance and patriotism, highlight fundamental values such as family, work, homeland and religion, and emphasize traditions and attachment to one’s “little homeland”. The aim of this article is to verify the way in which authors of school textbooks propose develop listening comprehension in Polish language lessons. The author, after discussing the specifics of listening within an interpersonal communication and detailed perceptual skills, sets objectives of improving the auditory reception in Polish language education. Subsequently, she presents an analysis of didactic tasks that are classified according to a perceptual skill which are being developed. The article finishes with the presentation of a model of developing listening comprehension that emerges from selected school textbooks.
