Ahmadi Muslims have combined local contributions and financial support from overseas to support various development projects since the 1920s when they started their mission activities in West Africa. The chapter outlines contemporary social welfare activities of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Ghana and Burkina Faso. Humanitarian aid provided by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and its NGO Humanity First is one of the issues favouring public recognition as well as interreligious dialogue to which the Ahmadis are equally strongly committed. Circumventing deadlock through venue-shopping: Why there is more than just talk in US immigration politics in times of economic crisis

This article addresses the question of how the financial and economic crisis that hit the US in the late 2000s impacted immigration policies. We find that the crisis has not significantly changed dynamics. Instead, it has highlighted and aggravated persisting trends. Drawing on Kingdon’s multiple streams model and combining it with the notion of two-level games, we find that while the policy stream and the problem stream would call for both restrictive and liberalising changes, the political stream impedes change: The fact that Congress has been divided for a long time over Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) impedes any restrictive or liberalising changes. Specifically, although existing researches on open innovation effectiveness have separately investigated the effect of open innovation practices on innovation and financial performance, this study evaluates the concurrent effect of these practices on both such performance dimensions in a single framework. Este texto es una presentación sintética de las características esenciales de las teorías monetarias poskeynesianas. Deseamos mostrar que, en el marco institucional actual, éstas constituyen una herramienta útil para aprehender el funcionamiento de nuestras economías monetarias. Al descomponer las relaciones entre las esferas financiera y productiva, los poskeynesianos justifican la necesidad de promover una regulación monetaria y financiera. En el análisis se ve con claridad que la política monetaria no debe estar exclusivamente dedicada a la lucha contra la inflación, además de que el gran desentendimiento del Estado no deja exenta de riesgos a la estabilidad del sistema en su totalidad.

The aim of the paper is an analysis of the way and circumstances under which inflation can occur in a virtual economy. It is also an attempt to answer the question whether, and in what way virtual inflation may be related to inflation in the real economy.
