Influence of molecular parameters on the elongational behaviour of different polyethylenes and their blends

1988

Elongational data on a large number of polyethylene samples with different structures and their blends are presented in order to evaluate the influence of the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution for a given degree of long chain branching. The elongational viscosity rises with the number of branch points and also with molecular weight and molecular weight distribution. Simple relationships between elongational viscosity at a given deformation and molecular parameters are presented.

Studies and Research on the Stress – Strain Analyses of the Polyethylene Pipe-Fitting Assemblies Accidentally Subjected to an External Force

2019

Abstract The paper aims at analyzing the behavior of the polyethylene pipe - fitting assembly in the case of accidental stress due to the accidentally occurring external forces (mechanized excavation in the assembly area). The study will identify the necessary computing relationships and the minimum value of the force to which the analyzed assembly breaks, as well as some solutions for avoiding these accidental stresses. A three-dimensional model of the assembly will be made by applying the external forces on three main directions, following the maximum stresses for the same value of the external force. Also, a welding of a polyethylene pipe-fitting assembly will be carried out and it will …

Transferability of ASTM/NIST alanine–polyethylene recipe at ISS

2000

Abstract Alanine–polyethylene solid state dosimeters were prepared at Istituto Superiore di Sanita (ISS) following the recipe proposed by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) with the goal of testing its transferability. Dosimeters were prepared using 95% alanine and 5% polyethylene, by weight. They are rugged and of increased sensitivity, repeatability and reproducibility as respect to the ISS alanine-paraffin pellets. Reproducibility of about 1% was obtained at 10 Gy and at 3 Gy if one single pellet or a stack of five dosimeters were used, respectively.

Influence of Acidic Support in Metallocene Catalysts for Ethylene Polymerization

2001

Abstract We studied a ZSM-5 zeolite as metallocene support for ethylene polymerization. We transformed the Na-ZSM-5 into H-ZSM-5. After the cation exchange, the zeolite was calcined at three different temperatures. Characterization of the material indicated that by means of the calcination procedure it is possible to produce dealuminization with an increase in extraframework aluminum (EFAL). We prepared zirconocene-supported catalysts on zeolitic supports using two preparation methods. The higher activity was observed with the zirconocene supported on ZSM-5 pretreated at 900°C. We think that the dealuminization process generates an increase in EFAL. This EFAL is responsible for the higher a…

Funkcjonalizowane woski polietylenowe jako kompatybilizatory kompozytów polietylenowo-drzewnych o wysokim stopniu napełnienia

2012
