Protection of Saccharomyces cerevisiae by a layer-by-layer system : effect on yeast metabolic activity in response to environmental conditions
2016
In order to protect the Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast during dehydration, two strategies were used to improve cell survival. Strengthening cell resistance (internal protection) was performed by improving the concentration of intracellular glutathione in yeast. Encapsulation was performed by layer-by-layer method using two biopolymers β-lactoglobulin and alginate for the external protection of the yeast. The adequate medium culture and favorable growing conditions for glutathione enhancement were determined. The composition of the culture medium is rich in nutrients and glutathione precursors consisting in 30 g/L glucose, 30 g/L yeast extract, 0.6 g/L KH2PO4 and 0.6 g/L cysteine. The succes…
Caractérisation et prédiction du rendement de projection lors du procédé de projection à froid – cas de la métallisation des polymères
2020
This thesis work deals with the cold spray metallization of polymer substrates by aiming at an optimal deposition efficiency using experimental analysis combined with numerical simulation. Experimental observations of the powder jet using an ombroscopic analysis have revealed a generic behavior consisting of a uniform confined zone at the immediate exit of the nozzle followed by a dispersed zone. The supersonic flow at the nozzle exit being essentially axial, the powders are entrained to form a uniform jet. Beyond a certain distance, a dispersion appears. This distance is very important because it characterizes the behavior of the powders. It can alter the conditions for the elaboration of …
Photo-thermal control of surface plasmon mode propagation at telecom wavelengths
2016
Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) is the promising versatile platform proposed for guiding electromagnetic waves at nanoscale dimensions. In this context dynamic control of SPPs prop- agation is of paramount importance. Thermo-optical (TO) effect is considered as an efficient technique for performing active control of plasmonic devices. Among the thermo-optical based plasmonic devices demonstrated so far TO coefficient is dominantly provided by a dielectric material on top of the metal sustaining the SPP mode, however, the role of TO properties of the metal has been rarely investigated for plasmonic applications especially at the telecom frequency ranges. Therefore, the aim of this thesis i…
From ZIF-8@Al2O3Composites to Self-Supported ZIF-8 One-Dimensional Superstructures
2015
International audience; Efficient preparation of composite materials consisting of ZIF-8 nanocrystals embedded inside the channels of macroporous anodic aluminum oxide membranes is reported. 1-D self-supported ZIF-8 superstructures are recovered through matrix dissolution.
Development of bio-based epoxy systems for dry-impregnated vegetables fiber composites implementation
2022
Prepregs find industrial applications thanks to their high thermomechanical properties and easy implementation. However, they have two major drawback. First, they needto be carried and stored at low temperature. The second drawback is linked to the use of solvent in the future matrix, generating VOCs during thermocompression process. Those two points leads to environmental and economical overcharges resolved by a new dry impregnation process developed by Fibroline company. Those PhD works are reporting the synthesis and formulation of a biobased powder system with a low environmental impact, non-toxic for humans and compatible with dry impregnation for fully bio-based composites implementat…
Modifications électrochimiques de surfaces et dispositifs électroniques organiques
2018
Organic electronics remains a fruitful research field thanks to the diversity of molecular structures reachable by organic synthesis. Molecular materials offer convenient shaping processes, such as solution processing techniques, which can be used for the fabrication of organic devices on plastic substrates. Our works can be summarized as the elaboration of conductometric devices thanks to electrochemistry and the study of their electrical and sensing properties. They deal with two topics: the development of new transducers based on substituted polyanilines and phthalocyanines and the study of the influence of electrochemical modifications on the behavior of known devices. We first developped…
Etude de la stabilité de films industriels de PLA et de leur modification de surface pour des applications en tant qu'emballage alimentaire biodégrad…
2017
Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is a biodegradable and renewable polyester, which is considered as the most promising eco-friendly substitute of conventional plastics. It is mainly used for food packaging applications, but some drawbacks still reduce its applications. On the one hand, its low barrier performance to gases (e.g. O2 and CO2) limits its use for applications requiring low gas transfer, such as modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) or for carbonate beverage packaging. On the other hand, its natural water sensitivity, which contributes to its biodegradation, limits its use for high moisture foods with long shelf life.Other biopolymers such as wheat gluten (WG) can be considered as interesti…
Synthesis of oligomers and polymers doped with porphyrins for solar energy conversion
2017
The aim of this thesis was to elaborate new electron donor materials for organic solarcells. This emerging photovoltaic technology is rapidly expanding, and has yet already reached the limit for its large-scale commercialization. The low manufacturing cost of organic photovoltaic devices make then competitive face to well-established inorganic technologies. Their biggest advantage is their weight and their mechanical properties which make them flexible. They should play a key role in future as a complement to classic solar cells, with their use in specific applications. We developed polymers by using different chomophores, well-known for their interesting photophysical properties: the porph…
Fabrication and optical characterization of long-range plasmonic waveguide interconnects for Tb/s datacom links
2019
Since the 1980s, researchers have been trying to design so-called "optical" computers, in which electrical signals would be replaced by photonic signals. For this, it is necessary to look at interconnection problems between components. This thesis deals with the problem of optical interconnection between electronic components. In order to propose a solution to this problem, we will study two types of plasmonic structures, a first structure of a single solid block where the information wave is reflected on an air prism, this structure is composed of a guide of metal wave covered with a layer of photoresist and it is named "ultra-long-distance plasmonic guide" (ULR-SPP). The second structure …
Characterisation of mechanical behavior of a sub surface drilled polymer, under hertzian contact load
2013
This research concerns the understanding of the sub-surface behaviour of a component presenting controlled heterogeneities and subjected to a Hertzian type load. The purpose is to qualify the stress field in the subsurface. Practically, defects of cylindrical shape are located where the stress field is maximal in sub surface. The contact is sized to be able to observe, by photoelasticity, the stress field and to develop a numerical model to simulate the behaviour (static and dynamic) of the friction area. It is highlighted that the presence of a hole on the z axis of symmetry (x = 0) is the dominating factor. The characteristics which allow decreasing the shearing stress on the symmetry axi…
