Right-wing populism is typically entangled with xenophobic nationalism and neo-conservatism, which often usher in racism and misogyny. In this chapter, the authors take Finland as a case study to examine the role of media technology in the rise of right-wing populism. Using superordinate intersectionality as a theoretical framework, this article explores notions of men and masculinities within right wing populism. It is attentive to how the right-wing populist media in Finland and Sweden construct white Nordic masculinities through discursive interactions across several axes of difference: gender (masculinities); sexuality (heterosexuality); social class (elites); and race (whitenesses). This chapter looks at how the Russian state authorities have attempted to influence communication on the Russian-speaking internet (‘Runet’) in the 2010s and how pro-government ‘patriotic’ views are disseminated across diverse channels of the internet. It examines the strategies employed by the Russian authorities to present propagandistic messages in discourses tailored for digital media users. More specifically, it analyses connections between the language and the imagery of political populism and the forms of popular culture and discusses how pro-state messages are positioned as attractive consumer products. peerReviewed

Bakalaura darba tēma ir "Politiskās partijas "KPV LV" priekšvēlēšanu kampaņa 13. Saeimas vēlēšanās - sociālo tīklu analīze". Darba mērķis ir izpētīt, kādus vēstījumus izmanto populistu partija "KPV LV" savā priekšvēlēšanu kampaņā sociālajos tīklos un kā šie vēstījumi ir ietekmējuši vēlēšanu rezultātus. Darba teorētisko pamatu veido jēdziena "populisms" izpēte un teorijas par priekšvēlēšanu kampaņām. Empīriskajā daļā tiek analizēti partiju līderu sociālo tīklu profili, izmantojot kontentanalīzes metodi.
