Counterdispositional Conscientiousness and Wellbeing: How Does Acting Out of Character Relate to Positive and Negative Affect at Work?

Conscientiousness is typically seen as a positive or desired personality trait in the workplace, with the overall assumption being “the more, the better”. Drawing on the behavioral concordance model, we challenge this assumption, expecting that the highest level of positive affect and the lowest level of negative affect will correspond at the point where state and trait conscientiousness converge. Using an experience sampling study and an event reconstruction study, we show that deviations from one’s level of trait conscientiousness relate to variations in positive and negative affect, but not in a straightforward way. Sense of agency refers to the ability to influence one’s functioning and environment, relating to self-efficacy and wellbeing. In youth, agency may be challenged by external demands or redefinition of self-image. Music, having heightened relevance for the young, has been argued to provide feelings of self-agency for them. Yet, there is little empirical research on how music impacts adolescents’ daily sense of agency. Extensions of positive linear functionals on a *-algebra

The family of all extensions of a nonclosable hermitian positive linear functional defined on a dense *-subalgebra $\Ao$ of a topological *-algebra $\A[\tau]$ is studied with the aim of finding extensions that behave regularly. Under suitable assumptions, special classes of extensions (positive, positively regular, absolutely convergent) are constructed. The obtained results are applied to the commutative integration theory to recover from the abstract setup the well-known extensions of Lebesgue integral and, in noncommutative integration theory, for introducing a generalized non absolutely convergent integral of operators measurable w. r. to a given trace $\sigma$.

Abstract The FLT3 receptor tyrosine kinase is expressed in more than 90% of acute myelogeneous leukemias (AMLs), up to 30% of which carry an internal tandem duplication (ITD) within the FLT3 gene. Although varying duplication sites exist, most FLT3-ITDs affect a single protein domain. We analyzed the FLT3-ITD of an AML patient for encoding HLA class I–restricted immunogenic peptides. One of the tested peptides (YVDFREYEYY) induced in vitro autologous T-cell responses restricted by HLA-A*0101 that were also detectable ex vivo. These peptide-reactive T cells recognized targets transfected with the patient's FLT3-ITD, but not wild-type FLT3, and recognized the patient's AML cells. Our results …

The overstated generational gap in online news use? A consolidated infrastructural perspective

Recent research by Taneja et al. suggested that digital infrastructures diminish the generational gap in news use by counteracting preference structures. We expand on this seminal work by arguing that an infrastructural perspective requires overcoming limitations of highly aggregated web tracking data used in prior research. We analyze the individual browsing histories of two representative samples of German Internet users collected in 2012 ( N = 2970) and 2018 ( N = 2045) and find robust evidence for a smaller generational gap in online news use than commonly assumed. Confidence-based Somatic Mutation Evaluation and Prioritization

Next generation sequencing (NGS) has enabled high throughput discovery of somatic mutations. Detection depends on experimental design, lab platforms, parameters and analysis algorithms. However, NGS-based somatic mutation detection is prone to erroneous calls, with reported validation rates near 54% and congruence between algorithms less than 50%. Here, we developed an algorithm to assign a single statistic, a false discovery rate (FDR), to each somatic mutation identified by NGS. This FDR confidence value accurately discriminates true mutations from erroneous calls. Synthesis and antibacterial activities of cadiolides A, B and C and analogues

International audience; The one-pot multicomponent synthesis of natural butenolides named cadiolides A, B, C and analogues has been realized. The antibacterial structure activity relationship shows that the presence of phenolic hydroxyl groups and the number and position of bromine atoms on the different aromatic rings are important features for antibacterial activity, besides it was demonstrated the tolerance of both benzene and furan ring at position 3 of the butenolide nucleus. Furthermore, none of the most relevant antibacterial compounds showed any cytotoxicity in freshly isolated human neutrophils.
