Blends using brabender farinograph and E6 Haubelt flourgraph
2010
The aim of this work is to establish correlations between the values of the Brabender Farinograph and the E6 Haubert Flourgraph. We analyzed two types of flours, white flour with additives (WF add) and brown flour with additives (BF add). The following parameters were varied: water absorption capacity, development time, the stability, the degree of softening and the quality number of wheat and potato flour mixture. A statistical analysis was made from linear regression equations. The obtained values for the E6 Flourgraph are comparable with Farinograph values and units. Hydration capacity values, calculated for a standard consistency of 500 HE, UF, obtained on these two devices are in a clo…
Protein recovery as a resource from waste specifically via membrane technology : from waste to wonder
2021
Economic growth and the rapid increase in the world population has led to a greater need for natural resources, which in turn, has put pressure on said resources along with the environment. Water, food, and energy, among other resources, pose a huge challenge. Numerous essential resources, including organic substances and valuable nutrients, can be found in wastewater, and these could be recovered with efficient technologies. Protein recovery from waste streams can provide an alternative resource that could be utilized as animal feed. Membrane separation, adsorption, and microbe-assisted protein recovery have been proposed as technologies that could be used for the aforementioned protein re…
Assessing HYDRUS-2D model to simulate water content and salt accumulation in a soil irrigated with a subsurface drip system: Application in a semiari…
2015
In this paper, the suitability of HYDRUS-2D model to predict the average soil water content in the root zone of potato crop irrigated with subsurface drip irrigation plant, is initially assessed on the basis of a field study. Then, the model is tested to predict the salt distribution around a buried emitter, when two different water qualities (i.e. electrical conductivity of 1.0 dS m-1 and 4.0 dS m-1), are used during the growing season (treatments T1 and T2). Finally, the soil volume in which salts accumulates, as well as the effects on crop yield is recognized for both the considered treatments. The results evidenced that predicted values of average soil water content in the root zone were…
Modelling the effect of ethanol on growth rate of food spoilage moulds
2005
The effect of ethanol (E) on the radial growth rate (mu) of food spoilage moulds (Aspergillus candidus, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Cladosporium cladosporioides, Eurotium herbariorum, Mucor circinelloides, Mucor racemosus, Paecilomyces variotii, Penicillium chrysogenum, Penicillium digitatum, Rhizopus oryzae and Trichoderma harzianum) was assessed in Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) medium at a(w) 0.99, 25 degrees C. In order to model this effect, the Monod type equation described previously by Houtsma et al. (Houtsma, P.C., Kusters, B.J.M., de Wit, J.C., Rombouts, F.M., Zwietering, M.H., 1994. Modelling growth rates of Listeria monocytogenes as a function of lactate concentration. Int…
