Bulgaria. Samokov Region, Rila Mountains, Rila National Park, N slopes of peak Deno, on granite slabs and scree, collected with occasional sporophytes, 42.19709°N, 23.60322°E, 2780 m a.s.l, 17 September 2019, leg./det. R. Natcheva s.n. (SOM 9811-B). This arctic-alpine species has a north Holarctic circumpolar distribution and this is the first report of Andreaea blyttii for SE Europe. It is its southernmost locality and extends its range further south in Europe. The Rila Mountains are the highest in the Balkan peninsula and A. blyttii was found near the highest summit (Mussala, 2925 m a.s.l.). Pseudocrossidium obtusulum (Lindb.) H.A. Crum & L.E. Anderson, is recorded for the first time in Italy. It has been gathered in northern coastal area of Sicily from Archaeological area of Solunto.

Abstract Didymodon eckeliae R. H. Zander, a presumed endemic species from California, is reported outside America for the first time, from Spain. A map of the currently known distribution, and a description and drawings of the Spanish specimen are provided.
On the synonymization of Acaulon longifolium Herrnst. & Heyn with Acaulon fontiquerianum Casas & Sérgio (Pottiaceae)

During bryological work conducted in the Sharon plane region (Israel), a colony of Acaulon Müll. Hal. was discovered. The plants showed morphological affinities both to A. longifolium Herrnst. & Heyn and A. fontiquerianum Casas & Sérgio depending on the floras used for their identification which challenged their recognition as separate species. In order to solve this taxonomic dilemma, we conducted a detailed morphological characterization of the two species based on representative samples. Nuove stazioni italiane di Tortula freibergii

Two new localities of Tortula freibergii Dix. & Loeske, a moss threatened in Europe, are reported. They are localized in North-western Sicily, one inside Natural Reserve of “Bosco della Ficuzza, Rocca Busambra, Bosco del Cappelliere e Gorgo del Drago” and the other near to the Archaeological area of Segesta. Both populations live on inland sections of waterways.

Crossidium laxefilamentosum W. Frey & Kürschner, gathered in the Archaeological area of Solunto (north-western Sicily), is reported for the first time from Italy. Gymnostomum calcareum Nees & Hornsch. var. lanceolatum (Cano, Ros & Guerra) Sérgio, is new to Sicily. It was found in a steppic grassland in Mount Bonifato (north-western Sicily).
Analysis of the epiphytic bryophyte diversity of Sicily

Sicilian epiphytic bryophyte diversity, based on literature and unpublished data, is assessed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The total number of taxa found on trees or shrubs is 133 (116 mosses and 17 liverworts). Among them, 38 are customary epiphytic, 21 cortico-saxicolous, 13 are indifferent and 61 occasionally epiphytic taxa. The most represented families are Orthotrichaceae (19.1%), which consists above all of several typically corticicolous species, Pottiaceae (19.1%) and Brachytheciaceae (12.6%) which both include many taxa that mainly colonize rock or ground substrates. Tortella bambergeri (Pottiaceae) in the Iberian Peninsula, with an updated key to Iberian Tortella

Tortella bambergeri (Schimp.) Broth. is reported for the first time from northern and central-eastern Spain in the Iberian Peninsula. Diagnostic characters and differentiation from other closely related Iberian Tortella taxa are discussed. Furthermore, a map of the currently known distribution of T. bambergeri in Spain, illustrations of the species and an updated key to Iberian Tortella are provided.
