Social process of adaptation to environmental changes: How eastern african societies intervene between crops and climate

Abstract Studies on climate change can only be conducted on a long time scale, and observing how societies adapt their sowing practices to climate variability is challenging and costly. As an alternative, a space and time substitution design was used, changes in space corresponding to that induced in time by environmental change. On the eastern slope of Mount Kenya, the Tharaka community, originating from the lowlands (750 m), moved up to the midlands (950 m) with their lowland-adapted resources, whereas the Mwimbi, originating from wetter upland (1100 m), moved down to the midlands with their highland-adapted genetic resources. GeneSys-Beet: A model of the effects of cropping systems on gene flow between sugar beet and weed beet

A weedy form of the genus Beta, i.e. Beta vulgaris ssp. vulgaris (hence ''weed beet'') frequently found in sugar beet is impossible to eliminate with herbicides because of its genetic proximity to the crop. It is presumed to be the progeny of accidental hybrids between sugar beet (ssp. vulgaris) and wild beet (ssp. maritima), or of sugar beet varieties sensitive to vernalization and sown early in years with late cold spells. In written French forms play an essential role. Numerous morphological marks have no correspondence in oral French. This is the case of plural flexions : -s for the plural of nouns and adjectives and -nt for verbs at the third person of indicative present. Earlier research showed that on the one hand the interpretation of these marks precedes their production and that this nominal flexion proceeding appears earlier and more correctly than adjectival flexion proceeding and verbal flexion (-nt). This study aim to improve knowledge about individual and contextual factors of success in music education during elementary level's first year. There are three main subjects : acquisitions' social inequalities, teacher-effect and children' interest about in class musical activities. Two musical tests (one at the beginning of the year, another at the end) were administrated to 1184 students living in Burgondy.
