This article offers a full updating of the biographical records of the writer Joan Roís de Corella (1435-1497) and his family: his great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, siblings and children. All data are presented in a systematic way, generation by generation, and a new vision of the writer himself is offered. In its documentary section, 432 documents are transcribed or summarised, dating from 1373 to 1516. A broad range of new archival data is presented; other previously known data are corrected or improved. In the times of Fabian Birkowski, OP, the notion of the Dominican Family comprised three forms of community life. They were represented by the preaching friars, cloistered nuns, and lay Dominicans. There were numerous saints and blessed who used to be members of those orders and the memory of them was perpetuated in, among others, the religious oratory of the 17th century. The aim of the article is to analyse contemporary patriotic preaching. It proves that the ethnocentrism of the Church in Poland, has an ethnically based definition of sacrum, limiting one's view to the Polish national community. As a consequence 'we'in such discourse is an equivalent of 'we, the Polish people'. Christian (or generally: human, universal) attitude is not evident. Artykuł stanowi próbę rekonstrukcji duchowej sylwetki św. Jana z Kęt, jaka wyłania się z poświęconej mu łacińskiej mowy Fabiana Birkowskiego. W swojej literackiej narracji XVII-wieczny kaznodzieja odwołuje się m.in. do mających stanowić życiową dewizę średniowiecznego profesora słów Ut supra. Przypisywanie Janowi z Kęt powyższego wyrażenia było jednak błędem. Jak wykazane zostaje w niniejszym tekście, wynikał on z niewłaściwego odczytania wspomnianych słów podczas lektury tłumaczenia Kroniki Macieja Miechowity, które Piotr Skarga dołączył do Żywotu świętego. Błąd ten jest o tyle istotny, że popełnili go również inni twórcy, przez co słowa te wpisały się w dzieje kultu krakowskiego profesora.

Święty Rajmund z Penyafort nie jest współcześnie w Polsce postacią powszechnie znaną. Podobnie było w okresie staropolskim, kiedy to popularnością cieszył się jedynie w dość wąskich kręgach. Niewątpliwie znany był on wówczas w środowisku Wydziału Prawa Akademii Krakowskiej, gdzie katedra opracowanych przez niego Dekretałów Grzegorza IX, przewidziana w akcie fundacyjnym wydanym przez Kazimierza Wielkiego, przetrwała aż do reformy kołłątajowskiej. Jeśli w gronie prawników Rajmund ceniony był jako wybitny jurysta, to jako świętego czczono go przede wszystkim w Zakonie Kaznodziejskim, którego był trzecim w historii generałem. In his writings, the Old-Polish preacher, Father Fabian Birkowski, many a time made references to reality of war, with which he was familiar due to his services as the camp chaplain. Thus, military motifs can be found in his sermons that were delivered on different occasions. He taught the art of good fighting by, among others, recalling the glorious memory of sons of the Crown, both members of clergy and laity, recollecting historic events from the history of the nation, propagating the cult of saints and preaching the Gospel on particular Sundays of the liturgical year, and all these issues are discussed in this paper. W duszpasterstwie dzieci ważne zadanie spełniają głoszone do nich homilie i kazania. To przepowiadanie zostaje poddane naukowej refleksji w oparciu o paradygmat pastoralny. Przesłanką większą są wytyczne dokumentów Kościoła odnośnie przepowiadania do dzieci i to, co napisano na jego temat. Zaś przesłanką mniejszą wybrane homilie i kazania, które ukazały się drukiem i te, które są głoszone. Zestawienie przesłanki większej i mniejszej, a więc teorii i praktyki, pozwala na sformułowanie postulatów odnośnie przepowiadania do dzieci w Polsce. Zaproponowano 10 postulatów.
