Initial studies and observations on the Saint-Pierre storehouse (Troyes, Aube)
2018

The significance of dropstones in a tropical lacustrine setting, eastern Cameros Basin (Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous, Spain)
2004
International audience; Outsized clasts (mainly white quartzite pebbles) are found in carbonate deposits of the Enciso Group exposed on the northern border of the Cameros rift basin (Late Jurassic – Early Cretaceous, northern Spain). In the Arnedillo section, all the stones are enclosed in micrite, which was assumed deposited in littoral to open lacustrine environments, with minor inputs of deltaic sandstones. The clasts are found in fine-grained lacustrine sediments either as isolated stones or as loosely packed elongated clusters occasionally associated with quartz sands and gravels. The mean size of the clasts is 40 mm (range: 3 – 100 mm); they are polished, well-rounded, and lack any fa…

ArchaeoKM: Managing Archaeological data through Archaeological Knowledge
2010
International audience; Nowadays, the use of ontologies in the field of the archaeology is a new direction of research that is not fully tested. Some results are very encouraging and challenge the vision of archaeological sites which cannot be modeled semantically. Most of the re-searches based on ontology technologies in the arc-haeology domain are based on the research of finding on a common ground for the interoperability and the integration of data. Papers like (LANG 2009), (KOLLIAS 2008) cover these research. The project ArchaeoKM is a shift from such researches. It focus-es on using the knowledge possessed by the archaeo-logists to model the data of an archaeological project, and to d…
City gates of Augustodunum and their architectural models (Gaul, Italy, Western Provinces of the Roman Empire)
2013
Augustodunum, civitas Aeduorum, roman city founded under the reign of Augustus, was equipped with four roman city gates : the gate of Arroux and the gate of Saint André, both well preserved, the gate of Saint Andoche which sole remaining part is a flanking tower, and the gate of Rome, destroyed long ago.The heart of this study lies in the stratigraphic reading of those gates structure and in thoughts about the building site of Autun’s city gates operating process. Moreover, since the 16th century, antiquaries, travelers and artists have described in many ways their visits to the roman city gates of Autun. These accounts constitute a major documentary collection of written and iconographical…
Sharing spatial data with a 3D component as a collaborative and dissemination tool for archaeology: conceptual challenges and technical issues
2018
International audience; Due to INSPIRE directive, various spatial data infrastructure (SDI) were developed to support research activities. In practice, these toolsremain underexploited by researcher for many reasons. First, their use is time-consuming and researchers usually consider that they provide noimmediate benefits. Second, their use is often complex and needs a substantial investment for researchers who have a limited expertise in spatial data. Finally, often based on 2D GIS environment, they do not provide an adequate tool for collaborative research in archaeology. From this experience, an interdisciplinary team designed and developed an SDI based on GeOrchestra, synchronized with …
Investigating a multi-paradigm system for the management of archaeo- logical data : Corpus Lapidum Burgundiae
2013
International audience; Scientific Information Systems (SIS) must move beyond data repositories and closed systems, to allow collaborations among different research disciplines, to include new types of data, to control quality data, and to enable semantic interoperability. Archaeological data include textual information, quantifiable values and measures, sketches, photographies, 3D models, and lots of links among data and historical information sources. DBMS are essential component of SIS nevertheless, existing DBMS including NoSQL DB does not provide enough extensibility and cannot meet all the properties required by a SIS. Our contribution is a multi-paradigm data management system approa…
